Good: Plants vs. Zombies 2 adds new plants, lets you explore themed worlds, and adds challenging minigames for plenty of variation.
Bad: While it's not a game-changer, a couple of plants you might have liked from the original can only be used if you buy them.
Bottom Line: Plants vs. Zombies 2 is a must-download, with new plants, new ways to play, new challenges, and a freemium model that doesn't get in your way. [Read more]

Good: The Apple TV lets you stream all the video content in the iTunes Store to your HDTV, with purchases stored in the cloud. Netflix, Hulu Plus, HBO Go, MLB.TV, and a handful of other online media services are available, plus music, videos, and photos can be streamed from iOS devices using AirPlay. AirPlay Mirroring lets you stream any Web video to the Apple TV, if you have a newer Mac running Mountain Lion. And Apple TV's user interface is one of the best there is.
Bad: The competing Roku 3 offers more content sources (including Amazon Instant), cross-platform search, and a remote with a headphone jack. The Apple TV is less of a standout streamer box if you don't own other Apple devices.
Bottom Line: While it's still a step behind the Roku 3, the Apple TV is an excellent streaming box, especially for those invested in the Apple ecosystem. [Read more]

Good: The well-priced Nikon Coolpix S9500 has an impressive zoom range for its size and weight. It has a full assortment of automatic shooting options and can capture HD movies as well as slow-motion clips. Built-in Wi-Fi allows you to directly send photos from the camera to iOS or Android devices.
Bad: Picture quality drops off indoors or in low-light conditions. Autofocus can be finicky under those conditions as well as when fully zoomed in. If semimanual and manual controls are a necessity, you're out of luck and its flash is poorly placed.
Bottom Line: With its long lens, compact size, plus extras like built-in Wi-Fi and GPS, the Nikon Coolpix S9500 is a very good point-and-shoot travel companion. [Read more]

2013 Volkswagen Tiguan

User Rating:
Good: The 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan's compact SUV style allows easy maneuverability and good cargo utility. Available 4Motion all-wheel drive sends torque to rear wheels when necessary.
Bad: The navigation system lacks real-time traffic and the audio system delivers subpar sound quality. The ride quality in this pricey little SUV can be rough.
Bottom Line: The 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan suffers from a high price and inferior cabin electronics, compared with other compact SUVs, and struggles to make a compelling argument for itself. [Read more]
