Good: After downloading, WhatsApp Messenger lets you text for free with other users of the app, regardless of platform. Neat customization tools, group chat features, and easy location adding are all cool additions.
Bad: You'll need to convince your friends to download the app.
Bottom Line: Though you only get a few extra useful features, WhatsApp Messenger is an excellent choice for sending free texts across platforms, even internationally. [Read more]

Magellan Smart GPS

Good: The Magellan SmartGPS hardware connects to the Web via Wi-Fi and syncs contacts, favorites, and recent destinations with a smartphone app and a MiCloud Web service. Via its Internet connection, Yelp and Foursquare destinations can be downloaded and real-time traffic and fuel price data are provided. Bluetooth hands-free calling rounds out a strong feature set.
Bad: Syncing can be slow at times. The interface crams a lot of information on the screen, and the flipping of the smart squares can be distracting.
Bottom Line: The Magellan SmartGPS bridges a gap between connected navigation apps and car-friendly GPS hardware with its ability to sync with the cloud and connect to the Web via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but its busy interface could use fewer moving parts. [Read more]

Good: The Denon AH-W150 Exercise Freak in-ear Bluetooth headphones offer wireless audio streaming from Bluetooth-enabled devices, they're sweatproof, relatively comfortable to wear, and offer decent sound for wireless headphones. They have a built-in microphone for cell phone calls, as well transport and volume controls. The included carrying case is nice.
Bad: They're fairly pricey and they won't fit everyone equally well (which can affect sound quality).
Bottom Line: While their design may resemble a pair of jumbo hearing aids, the Denon AH-W150 Exercise Freaks are among the better wireless sports headphones available. [Read more]

Good: The LinkedIn mobile app performs well, has a beautiful interface, and offers many of the most frequently used features of the professional networking Web site.

Good: The Sony Xperia ZL is thin, has a big, bright screen, a zippy processor, great call quality, and camera that takes excellent pictures.
Bad: The Xperia ZL is more expensive than other competing unlocked handsets. The phone's battery life is short and its camera is sluggish.
