Good: The Toshiba Qosmio X875 offers excellent application and gaming performance, with enough configuration options to keep the price reasonable.
Bad: As configured, you're paying for expensive extras, including stereoscopic 3D and a Blu-ray burner. The design, like most desktop replacement laptops, is clunky and dated.
Bottom Line: We have yet to see a truly great gaming laptop built from the ground up with Windows 8 in mind, but the 17-inch Toshiba Qosmio X875 can be configured into a powerful, reasonably priced mainstream gaming machine. [Read more]

Good: The Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR has a nice 42x manual zoom lens; fast performance; very good picture quality for its class; a lot of shooting options, including manual and semimanual modes and raw capture; and excellent hardware features.
Bad: Its manual zoom isn't great for zooming while capturing movies; it's large and heavy; for those uninitiated with Fujifilm's EXR sensors, getting the best results can require a little extra effort.
Bottom Line: The Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR's features and performance are well beyond those of your average point-and-shoot megazoom, making it a fine choice for enthusiasts and as a family camera. [Read more]

Good: Sturdy, cleanly-constructed case; keyboard is above average; the price isn't too high.
Bad: Nowhere near as thin or light as Logitech's Ultrathin Keyboard Cover, and yet it's more expensive.
Bottom Line: Logitech's simple and functional Keyboard Folio offers a keyboard plus iPad protection, but it's too thick for its own good. [Read more]

Good: Rope Escape offers some unique, addictive gameplay that's easy to learn and great for pick-up-and-play action.
Bad: Graphics aren't so hot. New environments would help break up the visual monotony.
Bottom Line: Don't let the cheesy graphics fool you. Rope Escape is an addictive and unique side-scrolling runner that is well worth the download. [Read more]
