Posted: 09 Apr 2013 01:31 AM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: 8 Ball Pool for iOS has a polished design, with accurate and responsive game physics, and is easy to play even if you aren't a pool player in real life. Bad: The app can stall while determining an opponent, and it ran into some server errors. Bottom Line: Despite a few hiccups, 8 Ball Pool is an addictive, straightforward billiards app that is endlessly entertaining, whether you're a pool shark or not. [Read more] |
Posted: 09 Apr 2013 12:21 AM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The JBL Charge is a compact portable Bluetooth speaker that sounds very good for its size and is designed to be used horizontally or vertically. It also has a built-in USB port that allows you to use the speaker's built-in 6,000mAh lithium-ion battery to charge other portable devices. And it ships with a neoprene carrying case. Bad: No speaker-phone capabilities. Bottom Line: The JBL Charge is a nice compromise for those who want a better-sounding portable wireless speaker but don't want to make the jump -- both in terms of size and price -- to something like the Jawbone Big Jambox or Bose SoundLink. Posted: 08 Apr 2013 11:31 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Enform App feature gives the 2013 Lexus RX 350 integration with Bing local search, Yelp, and Pandora. The all-wheel-drive system includes a differential lock, and the F Sport trim includes an eight-speed transmission. Bad: F Sport suspension tuning does not really suit the RX 350. Adaptive cruise control is not available, and the cabin tech interface controller needs refinement. Bottom Line: The 2013 Lexus RX 350 lacks some of the more advanced features of rival luxury SUVs, but app integration helps keep it modern. F Sport trim does little for performance, mostly making the ride less comfortable. [Read more] |
Posted: 08 Apr 2013 11:27 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: Split Pic Pro lets you create interesting image projects by letting you clone yourself, add filters, then share your work with friends. Bad: You only get 12 templates to work with, and that's with the pro version. There is no way to leave the process in the middle, forcing you to save a project before you can start over. Bottom Line: Despite its problems, if you want to try something different with your photos, buy Split Pic Pro for an artistic spin on run-of-the-mill collage apps. [Read more] |
Belkin Ultimate Keyboard Case (Black) Posted: 08 Apr 2013 10:03 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: Thin form, excellent keyboard, case automatically turns on and off, multiple viewing angles, offers solid iPad protection. Bad: It's unclear how the plastic construction will hold up over time. Bottom Line: The Belkin Ultimate Keyboard Case might be the best way to turn your iPad into the closest thing to a laptop alternative, offering protection and not much bulk. [Read more] |

Posted: 08 Apr 2013 04:00 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The HTC One flaunts a stunning metal design, powerful quad-core processor, and a beautiful 4.7-inch 1080p screen. It runs Android Jelly Bean, takes great pictures, and has a feature-packed camera app. Bad: Sealed case design means no SD expansion slot or user replaceable battery. The BlinkFeed software can't be completely removed. The phone isn't available on Verizon. Bottom Line: A few quibbles notwithstanding, the powerhouse HTC One is a beautifully crafted, near-ideal smartphone. [Read more] |
