Good: The inexpensive Samsung E450 series plasma TV is a well-rounded performer with deep black levels for the money and decent shadow detail. Color saturation is one of the TV's high points. The E450 uses less power than most plasmas its size.
Bad: The image washes out quite a bit in normal room lighting. The picture processing suffers from poor compatibility with 24p and 1080i material, and this could be symptomatic of the TV's low 720p resolution. Color accuracy is fairly poor.
Bottom Line: The Samsung E450 series plasma may not be perfect, but you won't find another TV that performs this well for this low a price. [Read more]

Good: Slim and lightweight, the HP Envy Spectre XT is portable, well-built, and easy to use, with a great keyboard.
Bad: The design doesn't stand out as much as the original Spectre's did, and its battery life won't get you through an entire day. From a premium product, we'd expect a higher screen resolution.
Bottom Line: A high-end laptop at a mainstream price, the HP Envy Spectre XT gets much of the look and feel right, with only a few missteps. [Read more]

Good: The Sony Xperia Tablet S has a comfortable, high-quality design, a sharp-looking screen, storage expansion, and potential as a universal remote alternative.
Bad: Unfortunately Wi-Fi currently shuts off whenever the tablet sleeps, waking the tablet from sleep takes way too long, and its screen flickers intermittently. Price is a bit high for what's offered.
Bottom Line: The Xperia Tablet S has an excellent design, but there are cheaper alternatives that provide similar and better tablet experiences. [Read more]

Sonos Connect:Amp

Good: The Sonos Connect:Amp is an excellent all-in-one digital music system that offers superb sound quality. It gives you access to nearly any cloud music service (Pandora, Spotify, Amazon, Rhapsody, and so forth) using any iOS device or Android smartphone as a remote. The Connect:Amp has a line-in, which is particularly useful for connecting a TV or DVD player.
Bad: You'll need to have separate speakers and a tablet or smartphone. The Sonos Connect:Amp doesn't support iTunes Match. While it can wirelessly interact with other Sonos products, you'll need a hard-wired connection or the $49 wireless Sonos Bridge accessory if it's your only Sonos component.
Bottom Line: The Sonos Connect:Amp is an excellent streaming-audio solution for sound quality sticklers who prefer to supply their own speakers. [Read more]
