Posted: 07 Sep 2012 12:04 AM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Samsung Entro has strong call quality, voice actions, and GPS. Its competitive price makes it one of the least expensive simple phones anywhere. Bad: The Entro is so bare-bones, it lacks a camera, a music player, and frankly, a personality. Bottom Line: You can't beat the Samsung Entro's no-contract price and simplicity when shopping for a dead-simple phone that only fields calls and texts. [Read more] |
Posted: 06 Sep 2012 10:56 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The 2013 Ford Mustang GT produces massive power while getting reasonable fuel economy. Sync is, as in other Ford models, an excellent means of integrating phones and music players, and offers very advanced app connectivity. Bad: The radio interface is clunky for browsing a connected device's music library. Paddles would have made manual shifting easier with the automatic transmission. Bottom Line: The 2013 Ford Mustang GT looks very cool and churns out tons of power, yet its reasonable fuel economy, easy driving manners, and useful cabin tech make it a fun daily driver. Posted: 06 Sep 2012 10:51 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The HP Pavilion m6 adds some high-end details from HP's more expensive laptops, while keeping the price down. This is a highly configurable system, with options for discrete graphics and fast CPUs. Bad: This is just not as solidly built as HP's Envy laptops. The keyboard isn't great, and the low screen resolution feels clunky on a 15-inch laptop. Bottom Line: This near-ultrabook packs in processing and graphics power, along with an optical drive, at a reasonable price. The only real knock against the Pavilion m6 is that some of HP's higher-end systems hardly cost more. [Read more] |
Posted: 06 Sep 2012 08:27 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The 2012 Honda Fit Sport is an eager and responsive hatchback that delivers driving grins. The flexible second-row Magic Seat folds flat to accomodate long items and flips up for tall ones. Bad: The Fit's cabin tech offerings, while checking the right boxes, are terribly outdated compared with those of competing models. Bottom Line: The 2012 Honda Fit Sport shows the model has aged gracefully, providing handling and performance among the best in its class. The same can't be said for its outdated cabin tech options. Posted: 06 Sep 2012 07:46 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: Sleek, minimalist design and a variety of fonts make it easy to get in the zone while you're writing with Write. Bad: The $2.99 price seems a bit steep for such a simple app. Also, it needs an archive or trash folder and compatibility with phones. Bottom Line: If you're looking for power features, Write doesn't have them. Otherwise, it's a perfect app for tablet owners who want to get focused on their writing. [Read more] |
Posted: 06 Sep 2012 05:15 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: PhotoToaster is one of the best ways to add effects to your images and features an excellent interface layout for giving your images a really cool look. Bad: Like many apps, PhotoToaster has begun to add in-app purchases, but there are several included filters that do the job nicely. Bottom Line: There are tons of image editors in the App Store, but PhotoToaster is easy to recommend with a slick and simple interface, helpful menus to get you started, and extremely impressive results.
