Good: The Kindle Fire HD has the most impressive-looking 7-inch tablet screen, its speakers deliver killer sound, and its refined interface is the best gateway for Prime members to access Amazon content. New enhancements fill its $200 price to the brim with value.
Bad: Performance is sluggish at times and it's less comfortable to hold than the Nexus 7. Curated app store means many apps and games are not available. There's a $15 opt-out for ads.
Bottom Line: With a beautiful screen, refined interface, and huge coffer of media consumption options the Amazon Kindle Fire HD is the Kindle Fire as it should have been. [Read more]

Good: Virgin Mobile's PCD Chaser is a competitively priced prepaid handset with a compact design.
Bad: The Chaser has terrible battery life, a slow processor, and unimpressive call quality.
Bottom Line: Though it's inexpensive and contract-free, the PCD Chaser's irritatingly poor battery life, laggy performance, and mediocre call quality make it safe to skip. [Read more]

Good: The Monster Inspiration headphones are comfortable, have good build quality, and offer impressive, rich sound with good detail and punchy bass. They come with three detachable headphone cables, microphone options for iOS and Android mobile devices, and an extra headband cover you can swap in. Also, they fold up and come with a nice carrying case.
Bad: The Inspiration is a fairly bulky headphone set and pretty pricey -- and the extra headband covers are priced too high at $30.
Bottom Line: While the Monster Inspiration headphones aren't a bargain, their combination of excellent sound and solid build quality, plus a decent accessory package, makes them worth a long look if you're considering a full-size pair of headphones in the $250 to $300 price range. [Read more]

Good: SkyDrive has a sleek, Windows 8-style interface and dead simple controls.
Bad: Lacks the capability to move files between folders and edit documents from the app. No security features.
Bottom Line: If you're a Microsoft SkyDrive user, then by all means, download this attractive and useful app. Just don't expect to use it for editing Office documents. [Read more]
