Good: Apple's Maps app finally has functional turn-by-turn directions with voice. 3D Flyover views are very impressive in supported cities.
Bad: Generic search terms bring up inadequate results. Many locations we tested lack details. Flyover produces strange visual bugs when browsing some areas. Public transit directions are no longer part of the app.
Bottom Line: Apple Maps now has functional turn-by-turn navigation and gorgeous 3D Flyover features, but lack of public transit directions, shoddy details on maps, and distorted 3D views in some areas make this app mostly unusable until there's an update. [Read more]

Good: This AMD version of the Samsung Series 5 is a sharp-looking, full-featured 14-inch laptop, with an optical drive and decent graphics.
Bad: Samsung's price is the same or more than comparable Intel versions, although it's available from some retailers for a more reasonable price.
Bottom Line: The 4-pound Samsung Series 5 isn't as light and portable as some slim 14-inch laptops, but this AMD-powered version can be found at a significant discount if you shop around. [Read more]

Good: The Dell B1160w's low-profile footprint occupies very little desk space and its Wi-fi connectivity works well for multiple users operating in the same network.
Bad: The 150-sheet paper capacity demands more frequent refills, and wired networking isn't an option without an onboard Ethernet port.
Bottom Line: The Dell B1160w's limited paper input capacity and lack of Ethernet networking constrain its use for small businesses with high-volume workloads, but its compact form makes it an affordable solution for personal use at home. [Read more]

Good: The Twitter for Android app is great at all of your basic Twitter operations. Makes it easy to post photos, mention users, and add location tags.
Bad: There's no rich content displayed inline and no scheduled tweets.
Bottom Line: The official Twitter app for Android offers reliable performance and slick design, but power users may find themselves wanting more. [Read more]

Good: Netflix for iOS gives you great-looking streaming movies and shows. New interface elements make browsing through scenes easier.
Bad: The streaming library is only a fraction of the larger DVD library. You still can't add to or change your DVD queue via the app.
Bottom Line: If you don't mind the limited streaming library, the Netflix app is a great way to watch movies and the new interface elements make it easier to use. [Read more]

LG 42PA4500

Good: The LG PA4500 plasma TV is a budget model that provides plenty of detail in shadows and punchy colors. Video processing is also a highlight. LG's design is understated yet not gaudy as some cheap TVs tend to be. It uses less power than 1080p resolution plasmas of this size.
Bad: The LG's picture quality is otherwise lackluster. Its black levels are fairly poor in comparison with the equivalently priced Samsung E450. The LG suffers from solarization that manifests as distinct bands in gradated colors. The screen is quite reflective and not suited to a bright room.
Bottom Line: The LG PA4500 is a decent budget TV in many respects but its competitors are able to deliver bigger picture quality for the buck. [Read more]
