Posted: 10 May 2012 05:20 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The LG LM6700 series delivers accurate color and good picture quality in 3D mode with little to no crosstalk. Its clever motion-control remote is used with a highly customizable menu system, and its Smart TV suite offers plenty of content. It ships with six pairs of passive 3D glasses. The external design is striking in silver, although probably not for everyone. Bad: The somewhat expensive LM6700 showed light black levels and shadows, and its glossy screen reflects too much ambient light. It lacks an option to engage smoothing and evinced worse motion resolution than other 120Hz TVs. Bottom Line: Although blessed with a unique design and plenty of useful extras, the disappointing picture quality of the LG LM6700 series makes it a questionable value. [Read more] |

Posted: 10 May 2012 03:51 AM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: Powerful parts, lovely screen, stunning design, and an excellent camera help the Evo 4G LTE restoke the fires of the Evo faithful. Bad: With 4G LTE in its name, the newest Evo's lack of Sprint LTE at launch is a huge letdown. Bottom Line: The HTC Evo 4G LTE is a worthy successor to Sprint's Evo family, as long as you remember one important caveat: until Sprint gets its LTE network off the ground, the Evo 4G LTE won't actually run 4G -- it will be 3G only at first. Posted: 09 May 2012 11:00 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Micron Technology Pop Video is a pocket-size pico projector that has a built-in retractable dock for iOS devices. Its picture is good enough, particularly considering its relatively affordable price of $99. Bad: The Pop Video must be used in a dark room; the projector could attach more securely to the iPhone or iPod Touch; battery life is only adequate at 2 hours. Bottom Line: While it has a few small drawbacks, this tiny $99 pico projector is a nifty iPhone accessory that produces a picture that's good enough for casual viewing. [Read more] |
Posted: 09 May 2012 10:17 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The entry-level D-Link DIR-605L Cloud Router is affordable and easily manageable via the Internet, using a browser or mobile apps. The networking device also offers decent performance and a stable wireless signal. Bad: Apart from the cloud-based novelty, the DIR-605L is a frills-free wireless router that lacks many common features found in others, such as Gigabit Ethernet, dual-band, the support for the IPv6, or guest networking. Bottom Line: The D-Link DIR-605L Cloud Router makes a great solution for those who just need a simple wireless network to share the Internet access among devices. Its cloud-based management feature also proves to be a helpful and practical bonus. [Read more] |
Posted: 09 May 2012 04:24 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The glasses are much cheaper than in previous years and much more streamlined. The glasses are based on the Full HD 3D standard and will work across compatible Panasonic and Samsung TVs. Image quality and fit are noticeably better than the cheaper Samsung glasses. Bad: These 2012 glasses won't work with 2011 or earlier Panasonic 3D TVs. Despite the build quality the lenses are still susceptible to damage and to protect your investment we'd suggest storing them away after use. The glasses are still on the pricey side with Samsung and LG producing appreciably cheaper sets. Bottom Line: The Panasonic TY-ER3D4MU are universal glasses compatible with the Full HD 3D and offer decent build quality and appreciably better picture quality than cheap glasses. [Read more] |

MakerBot Replicator 3D printer (single extruder) Posted: 09 May 2012 01:19 AM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The MakerBot Replicator is the most full-featured consumer 3D printer thanks to its dual-extruder print head and the largest print platform in its category. Bad: 3D printing can be hard to get the hang of thanks to early-stage technology and fragmented, obtuse software, and $1,999 is a lot to pay to navigate that experience. Bottom Line: For those willing to invest the time and the money, the MakerBot Replicator will provide the most powerful consumer 3D printing experience available. [Read more] |
