Nothing wakes me up better than a good cuppa in the morning. To some of us, cups, mugs, glasses; they are just something to hold our beverages; what matters is what we pour into them. To others, it wouldn’t hurt to have an unusual mug or two that screams "this mug is unique, and it’s also mine".

Setting up webmail like Gmail and Yahoo! Mail on your iPad and other iOS devices is pretty easy as all that is required is your username and password. But if you are looking to set up your email of your own domain on an iPad, you have come to the right place.

In this quicktip, we are going to show you how you can set up your own email address with an iPad using POP3. POP3 is an older method to retreive mail, it simply grabs emails from your server and downloads them to your email client.

Setting up POP3 email

Before you can set up your email with iPad, make sure you have created an email address on your hosting account.

1. With your email ready, open your iPad and click on the email icon available at the iPad dock.

   

2. Alternatively, you can also click on the ‘Settings’ icon, go to ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendars’ and click on ‘Add Account’.

   

3. From the list, select ‘Other’ and then click on ‘Add Mail Account’

   

4. Now fill up your email details, click ‘Next’, select ‘POP’ and fill up the ‘Incoming Mail Server’ information as well as ‘Outgoing Mail Server’. Then hit the ‘Save’ button once completed.

   

   For Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server, there is the hostname information you need to fill up. You must refer to your hosting provider to get this hostname information, or if you are using your own server with a dedicated IP, you must create a hostname for your email server. The username is usually your full email address while the password is your email password.
