Satechi SCH-121 Cup Holder Mount for Smartphones & Tablets Posted: 27 Jul 2012 12:11 AM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Satechi SCH-121 Cup Holder Mount ships with cradles for smartphones and 7- to 10-inch tablets. When locked into place, the SCH-121 is quite stable. Bad: The positioning arm could benefit from one more point of articulation at its base. Bottom Line: Depending on the position and nature of your car's cup holders, the Satechi SCH-121 Cup Holder Mount is a reasonable alternative to windshield-mounting a tablet. [Read more] |
Tech21 Special Ops Submariner (black) Posted: 26 Jul 2012 09:40 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Tech21 Submariner case has an extremely durable and completely waterproof design that will protect your iPhone from the elements while letting you use the touch screen at the same time. Bad: The Submariner case won't let you access your handset's volume control or ringer switch. You're required to use a second accessory, and the touch screen cover attracts hair and dirt Bottom Line: The design could use a few tweaks, but as a waterproof iPhone case, the Tech 21 Submariner will serve you well. Posted: 26 Jul 2012 08:37 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Samsung DA-E750 is the best-looking AirPlay speaker we've seen, with a beautiful furniture-grade cherry finish. It supports AirPlay and Bluetooth, and also features a retractable dock for iOS devices (including iPads), Samsung Galaxy SII and S3 phones, and the Samsung Galaxy Note. Wi-Fi is built in, plus there's an Ethernet port on the back. And sound quality is solid for an audio dock. Bad: At $700, the DA-E750 is very expensive for an audio dock; you can put together a better-sounding system for less money. There also aren't many options for adjusting the sound, which can make a big difference with smaller systems like this. And although its sound quality is good, it's not head and shoulders above other audio docks, which you might expect given the price. Bottom Line: The Samsung DA-E750 is by far the best-looking audio dock out there, with support for AirPlay and Bluetooth, but its extravagant price keeps it from being a good value for most buyers. Posted: 26 Jul 2012 06:45 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Eton Grundig G2 Reporter is a small, slim, and lightweight AM/FM/SW radio with 4GB of internal storage and a microSD slot for recording as well as playback of MP3/WMA files and a line-in jack for connecting an external source. FM reception is very good. Bad: The G2 Reporter runs on a rechargeable battery that charges by USB only (wall adapter not included); its e-book function is a joke; it has a flimsy stand; and operating it can be confusing. Bottom Line: The Eton Grundig G2 Reporter is more than just a little portable radio, but it has some drawbacks to consider before you buy. [Read more] |
