| 2012 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab 4x4 V-6 Posted: 03 Jul 2012 11:18 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Toyota Tacoma is available with both of Toyota's feature-rich Entune cabin tech packages. The JBL audio system is great for those who like it loud. The optional TRD T|X Baja Series and TRD Off Road packages add an impressive array of off-roading equipment. Bad: The 4.0-liter V-6 power train is a bit archaic, lacking many modern engine technologies. Fuel economy isn't that great when equipped with the full array of off-road equipment. Bottom Line: The Toyota Tacoma is available with a reasonable level of dashboard technology, which is surprising for such a simple, brutal truck. [Read more] |
| Lenovo IdeaPad U310 (Summer 2012) Posted: 03 Jul 2012 08:52 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The IdeaPad U310 offers up an attractive design and all the basic bells and whistles of a 13-inch ultrabook for $799, including plenty of USB ports and Ethernet. Bad: The thicker, heavier design weighs a bit more than last year's U300s, and there aren't any SSD-only upgrade options. Bottom Line: The Lenovo IdeaPad U310 is an all-around decent ultrabook that's perfectly priced for back-to-school shoppers, but there are plenty of alternatives with nearly identically prices and features. | Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router EA4500 Posted: 03 Jul 2012 07:54 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: Cisco's Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router EA4500 offers excellent performance, a nice set of features, and a completely new home networking experience with the Cisco Connect Cloud solution. Bad: The Linksys EA4500's 2.4Ghz band performance could use some improvement, and the router requires a live connection with Cisco for users to access and manage its features/settings. Bottom Line: Running Cisco Connect Cloud firmware, the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router EA4500 makes an excellent router for those who want a fast and advanced home network that's easily manageable from anywhere. | Posted: 02 Jul 2012 09:57 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Acer Iconia Tab A700's high-res screen sharpens text and graphics to near-iPad Retina levels. Also, it's comfortable to hold and includes both Micro-HDMI and microSD. Bad: The base version of the Tegra 3 can't keep up with the high-res display, resulting in frequent hangs and stutters while navigating. The cameras are unimpressive. Bottom Line: The Acer Iconia Tab A700 overreaches with its high-res screen and is ultimately outclassed by tablets that offer better experiences for the money. [Read more] |
| Samsung GreatCall r220 - red (Jitterbug) Posted: 02 Jul 2012 01:00 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Jitterbug Plus has reliable call quality, a huge keypad for easy typing, and a friendly user interface. Bad: The Plus' camera is poor, there's no way to mute keypad tones, the calendar UI is tedious, and the health service fees are expensive. Bottom Line: Though the senior-aimed Jitterbug Plus is easy to use and has good call quality, it's overpriced for its low-end features. [Read more] |
| Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio for iPad Posted: 29 Jun 2012 10:20 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Solar Keyboard Folio charges using everyday light, has an excellent keyboard, and can automatically turn on and off and pair when the iPad's in range. Bad: The outer case material feels flimsier then you'd expect for a $130 product, and the case feels too floppy to use for comfortable non-keyboarded iPad use. Bottom Line: Logitech's clever Solar Keyboard Folio hooks iPad users up with a quality typing experience on the go, no USB charger required: it really does work as advertised. [Read more] |
| Posted: 28 Jun 2012 08:00 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Toshiba 5200 series has good all-around performance for the price, with relatively good black levels and shadow detail and minimal uniformity issues. Bad: Color accuracy is a problem, with occasional greenish midtones. The backlight can fluctuate slightly between light and dark material. Unlike some TVs at this price level, there's no 3D or Smart TV. Bottom Line: The bare-bones Toshiba L5200 series offers respectable value for the money with fine picture quality for an edge-lit LED TV. [Read more] |
