How to unlink Facebook from Skype Posted: 13 Jul 2012 03:15 PM PDT (Credit: Skype) Social media services and applications are always trying to make everything link together for our "convenience." Unfortunately, what's convenient for some is a nightmare for others, especially in the case of linking two large social media accounts together. Linking Skype and Facebook allows you to see wall posts in the Skype Home window, which can be responded to and liked. But if this is a bit of information overload after a recent link of the two, unlinking them can be done in just a few steps on both services. Here's how to get started: For Skype(Credit: Screenshot by Nicole Cozma/CNET) Step 1: Access the Skype Home window. If you have this turned off by default, you can open the View menu and select Skype Home. Tiny Wings 2 flaps into the App Store Posted: 13 Jul 2012 12:43 PM PDT (Credit: Screenshot by Rick Broida/CNET) Last year, Andreas Illiger's Tiny Wings came out of nowhere to challenge the likes of Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja for App Store dominance. Since then, legions of fans have been waiting for the inevitable sequel -- and their patience has finally paid off. Tiny Wings 2.0 ($0.99) has arrived, but it's not exactly a sequel. Instead, it's an expanded version of the original -- and a free update for those who already own it. The core game remains the same. An adorable little bird slowly propels himself across the hills and valleys of the various islands that serve as the game's levels. The only "control" is your finger, which you tap and hold when he's sliding down a hill and release on the upturn. Time it right and the little birdie soars skyward. The goal is to time your taps and holds to achieve maximum velocity, thereby staying ahead of the impending sunset. It's simple, engaging fun. Version 2.0 adds Flight School, a new mode of play that's essentially a race: You must outrun (make that outfly) three... [Read more] |

Stop Google Talk from saving chat logs Posted: 13 Jul 2012 09:08 AM PDT (Credit: Google) Related stories
If you're looking for one less thing to clutter up your Gmail space, GTalk can be one of your bigger offenders if you're using it to communicate often with friends or colleagues. Just taking a look at my own personal Gmail account, I'm kind of shocked how many threads there are for conversations I've had in the past year. On my work account I like to keep logs in case I need to reference instructions, facts, or quotes from people I've talked to. However, on my personal account I don't need to keep track of everyday chitchat. That being said, I've decided to stop keeping the logs for my personal account completely, and here's how you can do it too: Note: These steps will not prevent others from recording your conversations, that is only possible by "Going off the record" in each conversation. For GTalk via Gmail on the Web: (Credit: Screenshot... [Read more] |
Apple adds Food and Drink section to App Store Posted: 13 Jul 2012 05:41 AM PDT (Credit: Apple) Apple's App Store has added a new listing for Food and Drink. When users tap over to the section, they'll find a host of applications offering everything from recipes and restaurant locators to programs from prominent companies, like Starbucks and Pizza Hut. As of this writing, Food Network in the Kitchen app is tops in the paid section, while the Starbucks app has taken top billing in the free area. Apple has added new sections to the App Store from time to time. Back in March, for example, the company added a Catalogs section. (Via 9to5 Mac) [Read more] |
