Good: The Toshiba Encore 8 runs Windows 8.1, boasts zippy performance, and has a microSD storage expansion slot.
Bad: The design is bulkier and heavier than most other small tablets. With no keyboard accessory, desktop mode is a headache to navigate.
Bottom Line: The Toshiba Encore 8 offers a lot for its price, but the more appealing Dell Venue 8 Pro is a cheaper and sleeker alternative. [Read more]

Good: The Pebble Watch is waterproof, runs a ton of apps, and works with both iOS and Android phones. A new app store improves the whole experience.
Bad: A lack of touch screen and multitasking limits the capability of apps; scratch-prone polycarbonate design doesn't feel nearly as impressive as the Pebble Steel.
Bottom Line: With a major software update and new app store, the original Pebble gets a new lease on life -- a less stylish but arguably better value than the newer Steel. [Read more]

Good: The 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA250's first rate navigation system shows attractive and informative maps, while taking traffic into account for routing. The optional Harman Kardon audio system produces music with great clarity. Fuel economy comes in at a healthy 30 mpg average.
Bad: The ride quality is far too harsh for a car with the Mercedes-Benz badge, and the engine's power delivery is uneven. Built-in apps take far too long to load.
Bottom Line: The 2014 CLA250 sports some fine tech from the Mercedes-Benz catalog and presents a stylish look, but its driving character is far from satisfying. [Read more]
