Good: Launch Center Pro works like a speed-dial for common tasks on your iPhone. The Action Composer makes it easy for anyone to get started.
Bad: App compatibility can come and go depending on changes to third-party apps and Apple's iOS. It takes time to learn how to use the app properly.
Bottom Line: Launch Center Pro easily automates common tasks on your iPhone, and is worth the high price tag, but only if you're willing to learn the ropes. [Read more]

Breville Slow Cooker with EasySear

Good: The Breville Slow Cooker with EasySear is a good looking appliance. You can put the inner pot on your stovetop for efficient searing and sautéing.
Bad: There's no timer or warm mode, so you have to be home to shut it off manually (otherwise, it will just continue to cook). It cooks much faster than most slow cookers -- you will have to adjust your cooking time way down from the recipe suggestion.
Bottom Line: This $129 Breville slow cooker is more high maintenance than we'd like. If you want something that more reliably sticks to the expected cook time and traditional slow cooker features, consider another model. [Read more]

Good: The Frigidaire Professional 7-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker looks the part of a high-end appliance and offers four distinct slow-cooking presets.
Bad: That great-looking design isn't terribly practical, with a complete lack of helpful features and no discernible performance advantage over cheaper competitors.
Bottom Line: We expect more from a $99 slow cooker, and so should you. There are smarter upgrades than this, and they don't cost quite as much. [Read more]

Good: The Monoprice MHD Sport Wifi is an excellent value for an action cam, giving you almost everything you need to go out and shoot some POV video on dry land or in the water.
Bad: Shooting options are just the basics, and you'll need to supply a microSD card for storage.
Bottom Line: An inexpensive option for capturing your exploits for YouTube, the Monoprice MHD Sport Wifi offers just enough value to make it an entry-level action cam worth considering. [Read more]

Acer C720P Chromebook

Good: The Acer Chromebook C720P has a good keyboard, an SD expansion slot, USB 2 and 3 ports, and HDMI, plus a touch screen. It also has more onboard storage (32GB) than most entry-level Chromebooks, and better battery life than most previous Chromebooks.
Bad: Low-end price is matched by its low-end feel. Chrome OS has natural limitations. Touch isn't always that useful in Chrome.
Bottom Line: The Acer Chromebook C720P manages to get better at all the key things, adding up to a little laptop alternative that's better than any budget Chromebook we've seen before. [Read more]

Huawei Honor 3X

Good: The Huawei Honor 3X comes packed with plenty of features, including dual-SIM capability, an octa-core processor and a 5.5-inch IPS display at a not-too-shabby price of $280.
Bad: It's still running on Android 4.2.2, where other newer handsets come loaded with Android 4.4 KitKat; you'll need to do some work to set up the phone if you're getting the handset straight from China, as it lacks all the Google features, such as the Play Store.
Bottom Line: The Honor 3X offers great performance and specs for its low price. However, unless you're getting a local version with Google Mobile Services pre-installed, you will not be getting the full flavor of Android without some effort. [Read more]

Hamilton Beach Set 'n Forget 6 Qt. Programmable Slow Cooker

Good: Thanks to its excellent heat retention, lid clips, and spoon rest, the Hamilton Beach Set 'n Forget 6 Qt. Programmable Slow Cooker travels incredibly well. It's also a great value at $59.99.
Bad: The display panel design is a little dated, and the button configuration could be more intuitive. It also lacks some design touches that make its competitors easier to carry and store.
Bottom Line: The beauty of this affordable slow cooker is its simplicity. It sticks to the basics but also boasts extras that set it apart from the competition. [Read more]
