Good: The budget-friendly Kyocera Hydro Plus can survive a good dunk in the pool and comes with Cricket's signature music subscription service.
Bad: The Hydro Plus runs the dated Android 4.0 OS, makes mediocre calls, and clocks slow network speeds, even for 3G.
Bottom Line: Though the Kyocera Hydro Plus is an inexpensive water resistant phone with an included music service, skip it for better and even cheaper splash-proof alternatives. [Read more]

Good: VSCO Cam has a cool interface layout for editing and putting effects on your photos. Fine tuning capabilities with sliders for every effect helps you get the exact look you want.
Bad: The Grid feed is curated and doesn't give you any way to post feedback or start a discussion. The Grid is difficult to browse with no way to break up the feed by category or other criteria.
Bottom Line: VSCO Cam is a great download for taking and editing photos, but the new curated feed, while nice to look at, is lacking useful features. [Read more]

Samsung Shape M7

Good: The Samsung Shape M7 wireless audio system is the best competitor to Sonos yet, with reliable audio streaming and a simple-to-use app. The M7 speaker sounds better than the similarly-priced Sonos Play:3 and has a few bonus features, including built-in Bluetooth and the ability to wirelessly connect with some Samsung TVs.
Bad: Streaming services are currently limited to Pandora, Amazon Cloud Player, Rhapsody, TuneIn, and DLNA, unless you use Bluetooth. There's still occasional grumpiness in the form of app nonresponsiveness or dropouts. The ecosystem of products is also limited compared to Sonos, without the option to add a subwoofer. Pairing two M7 speakers also doesn't result in true stereo sound, like you'd expect. And playlists aren't quite intuitive, as they can't add tracks from Amazon.
Bottom Line: The Samsung Shape M7 is a versatile streaming speaker that sounds better than the Sonos Play:3 but lacks a rich ecosystem of products and supported services. [Read more]

Good: The Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III sounds great for a compact Bluetooth speaker, playing louder than its predecessor and offering much better battery life. It also has a sleek and sturdy design, an auxiliary input, and the option to swap out protective covers (sold separately).
Bad: The speaker is pricey and has no speakerphone capabilities; requires dedicated AC adapter for charging (doesn't charge via Micro-USB).
Bottom Line: Though it remains somewhat pricey, the Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III is a superlative portable wireless loudspeaker, improving on its already impressive predecessor. [Read more]

The Walk: Fitness Tracker Game (Android)

Good: The Walk: Fitness Tracker Game turns a boring stroll into a varied, engaging adventure and tracks your steps against a daily goal. You can use it in different ways depending on your lifestyle. Improving as new features are added.
Bad: Frequent, though avoidable, fiddling with the UI can reduce immersion in the story and even be a safety hazard. The step tracking isn't very precise and the minigame is pretty mini. Only the first part of the story is currently available, though more episodes are promised.
Bottom Line: Despite its complex interface and high download price, The Walk: Fitness Tracker Game is an excellent way to make your daily walk interesting again. [Read more]
