Good: The Virgin Mobile Awe is cheap, clocked in respectable 3G data speeds, and has decent call quality.
Bad: The handset has a poor 5-megapixel camera and a sluggish processor.
Bottom Line: If you're in need of a low-cost prepaid phone, the Awe will satisfy, but if you want a quick-moving phone, move on. [Read more]

Good: With its diesel engine, the 2014 Audi Q5 TDI gets about 5 mpg better than the equivalent gasoline version. Connected dashboard electronics include Google Earth and parking garage availability.
Bad: The Q5's exterior design is undistinguished. Using a USB drive or iPod as an audio source requires using a proprietary connecter in the glove box.
Bottom Line: The 2014 Audi Q5 TDI works as a multipurpose vehicle, good for everything from the weekly commute to extended road trips, offering excellent information services through its dashboard electronics. [Read more]

Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14

Good: The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14 is inexpensive for a fourth-gen Core i5 laptop, with a good keyboard and touch pad, and excellent battery life. The 300-degree hinge gives you a second kiosk mode, if you want.
Bad: Because the hinge doesn't go back a full 360 degrees, it's not as useful as tabletlike hybrids. The largely plastic body doesn't have that premium IdeaPad feel.
Bottom Line: Lenovo tries something new with the semi-hybrid IdeaPad Flex 14. The fold-back hinge is of dubious practical use, as it doesn't fold all the way down into a tablet, but if you pick the right configuration, this is still a good, inexpensive Core i5 laptop, even without the gimmicks. Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS30 (Silver)

Good: The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS30 gets you a lot of features in a compact body including a 20x zoom lens, 3-inch touch screen, Wi-Fi for remote control of the camera as well as easy sharing, high-speed and full HD movie capture, and GPS. Photo quality and shooting performance are very good for its class.
Bad: The power and Wi-Fi buttons are too easy to accidentally press. There's no raw capture option. Battery life can be short if you do more than just take photos. Photos look soft and have visible noise/artifacts when viewed at full size even at its lowest ISO.
Bottom Line: A fully loaded travel zoom that's fun to use, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS30 has a lot to offer both advanced and casual snapshooters. [Read more]

Good: Sky Guide is a fun, interactive, and well thought out tool for stargazers new and old. The amount of information, and the overall look and feel within the app are unmatched.
Bad: There should be an option to add some transparency to the sky overlay, taking advantage of the camera to augment reality and help line up viewable objects.
Bottom Line: If you want to learn more about the stars, planets, and satellites spinning around us at all times of the day, Sky Guide is the best app to do it with. [Read more]
