Good: The 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport combines incredible off-road performance with well-mannered on-road driving. The cabin offers an excellent degree of luxury, accentuated by an audiophile sound system. Driver assistance features take some of the strain off during long-distance trips.
Bad: Fuel economy comes in as mediocre, well below 20 mpg average. There are no connected features in the cabin, such as online local search.
Bottom Line: Except for the Meridian audio system, cabin tech in the 2014 Range Rover Sport remains run-of-the-mill, but this SUV's on- and off-road capabilities are truly extraordinary. [Read more]

Good: The Kwikset Kevo packs a lot of subtle smarts into a little device. The indoor/outdoor sensor worked flawlessly, never once letting us in when it shouldn't have.
Bad: Calibrating that sensor was a bit tricky, taking multiple attempts to get right. Also, phones that aren't equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 aren't yet able to interact with the Kevo.
Bottom Line: If you've got a compatible smartphone, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better smart lock than this. [Read more]

Good: The Monoprice 10565 5.1 speaker system sounds even better than our longtime favorite compact speakers, the Energy Take Classic 5.1. The speakers are small, yet sound exceptional for their size, especially with movies. The $249 retail price is significantly lower than what you pay for most speakers that sound this good.
Bad: The matte-black finish isn't as stylish as the Energy system's. While the retail price is significantly lower than the Energy's, shipping costs and frequent discounts mitigate much of the savings. And the one-year warranty is significantly shorter than what you get with the Energy speakers.
Bottom Line: The Monoprice 10565 speaker system tops our longtime favorite Energy Take Classic speakers in sound quality, but they lack their stylish look. [Read more]

ZTE Overture (AIO Wireless)

User Rating:
Good: The ZTE Overture packs a fast processor and LTE data speeds in a comfortable user-friendly design. And at $150 without a contract, it's a bargain.
Bad: The Overture runs Android 4.1. Call volume was low and voice quality wasn't always accurate.
Bottom Line: With its fast processor and LTE, the ZTE Overture is a great deal from Aio Wireless and one of the carrier's best starter smartphones. [Read more]
