Good: The Monoprice 9774 speaker set is all but identical to our favorite home theater speaker system, the Energy Take Classic 5.1, yet costs $150 less. The speakers are compact with a beautiful piano-black finish that makes the budget price a surprise. The sound quality is exceptional for these speakers' size, especially with movies. No other 5.1 surround-sound speaker package offers nearly this much value.
Bad: Bigger speakers still sound better, and the Monoprice system has a relatively short one-year warranty.
Bottom Line: The Monoprice 9774 speaker system is the best home audio value we've ever seen: gorgeous, incredible-sounding home theater speakers for just under $250. [Read more]
