Good: The Canon PowerShot SX500 IS holds an ultrawide-angle 30x zoom lens in a very small, very light body. It offers more shooting options -- including semimanual and manual controls -- than most in its class, and has very good optical image stabilization.
Bad: Despite autofocus improvements, the SX500 IS' shooting performance might still be too slow for action shots, especially indoors. It's not a great choice for handheld low-light shots.
Bottom Line: It has its limitations, but the Canon PowerShot SX500 IS is a good choice for zoom addicts on a budget. [Read more]

Good: The Dell Inspiron One 2330 has a reasonably attractive design, and a surprisingly broad selection of video and audio connectivity options.
Bad: Aside from the AV inputs and its not-unattractive looks, nothing about this mainstream PC really stands out.
Bottom Line: Dell's workmanlike Inspiron One 2330 won't change your life, but it will meet all of your basic mainstream desktop needs while also providing a few useful extras. [Read more]

Good: The JVC Flats are very inexpensive on-ear headphones that are lightweight, comfortable, and sound quite good for the money. They fold flat and come in multiple colors.
Bad: They look like the inexpensive headphones they are, and they don't come with any sort of carrying case.
Bottom Line: Though they look a little cheap, the JVC Flats are lightweight, comfortable on-ear headphones that sound surprisingly good for sub-$15 headphones. [Read more]

Aperion ARIS

Good: The Aperion Aris has excellent sound quality for a streaming speaker, and decent stereo separation. The speaker has a very intimate sound and is best suited to ensemble music or folk. Build quality is very good. The promise of an AirPlay option is a big plus.
Bad: The speaker's reliance on buggy Windows software is a problem, and for best performance you'll need to use the 3.5mm input. The Aris isn't as well-suited to background listening, losing some scale off-axis, and it isn't as accomplished when playing complex music like progressive rock or stirring classical. The price is a little high.
Bottom Line: The Aperion Aris is a high-performance streaming speaker with an intimate sound, but its reliance on Windows streaming is a low note. [Read more]
