Posted: 07 Feb 2013 02:20 AM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The 2013 BMW X1 xDrive28i features a responsive engine with multiple drive modes and fantastic steering and handling when equipped with the M Sport package. A control knob, voice command, and customizable shortcuts allow drivers to interact with the infotainment system however they like. Bad: The X1's infotainment system takes some getting used to and can be confusing to navigate. Not many driver aid options and technologies are available. Bottom Line: It's not a driver aid powerhouse, but the 2013 BMW xDrive28i with the M Sport package is a driver's car with great handling and a spartan yet premium feel. [Read more] |
Posted: 07 Feb 2013 12:42 AM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: A lower-end version of the Envy 23 would make a decent, if unremarkable touch-screen all-in-one. Bad: This high-end review configuration has no distinguishing characteristics, leaving it outmatched next to its competition in this price range. Bottom Line: A bland effort, the HP Envy 23 has nothing to recommend it over other Windows 8 touch-screen all-in-ones. [Read more] |
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (AT&T) Posted: 07 Feb 2013 12:36 AM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is a well-designed tablet with powerful speakers, a responsive screen, and expandable storage. Bad: The tablet is overpriced, its dual-core CPU has trouble running large 1080p movies smoothly, and its screen color accuracy isn't as high as the previous Tab 10.1's. Bottom Line: The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 comes up short in performance, features, and value compared with competing tablets. [Read more] |

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 10:57 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Vizio SB4021M-A1 is an affordable sound bar, with above-average looks, sound, and features. The included remote is a step up over most, with a simple button layout and a substantial feel. Its sound quality is particularly good with movies, especially compared with current alternatives. Bad: The SB4021M-A1 lacks built-in Bluetooth, which will be more common in 2013 sound bars. And while its overall sound quality is good, it's doesn't compare with the best we've heard over the last year. Bottom Line: The Vizio SB4021M-A1 hits a nice blend of features, design, and performance for its price, but better sound bars are coming in a few months. [Read more] |
Posted: 06 Feb 2013 10:36 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: With a slim, sturdy design, and a powerful mainstream CPU, the touch-enabled Samsung Series 5 UltraTouch is a great sub-$900 13-inch Windows 8 machine. Bad: Good thing it has a touch screen, because the touch pad is a bit jumpy. Performance is slower than similar Core i5 laptops. Bottom Line: Samsung's midprice Series 5 UltraTouch looks and feels like a more expensive machine, but keeps it simple by skipping the complex hybrid mechanics of so many new Windows 8 systems.
