User Rating:
Good: The Samsung Brightside has a comfortable slide-out QWERTY keyboard, decent call quality, and a design that takes advantage of voice commands.
Bad: If you can't stomach an iffy screen resolution, a mediocre camera, and a laggy processor, then don't buy the Samsung Brightside.
Bottom Line: There are better feature phones than the Samsung Brightside if you really want to avoid paying a monthly smartphone data fee, and they'll cost less, too. [Read more]

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX66 (Gold)

Good: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX66 captures very good snapshots and video, is fast to focus and shoot, and has plenty of fun shooting options for those looking to do more than just take pictures.
Bad: The TX66's 18-megapixel resolution results in large file sizes, but doesn't make the photos any more usable for enlarging and cropping. Plus, its size and controls will be too small for some users.
Bottom Line: Sony's slimmest Cyber-shot, the DSC-TX66, is a fun and powerful snapshot camera that might be too small and have too many megapixels for its own good. [Read more]

Motorola Elite Sliver Bluetooth Headset

User Rating:
Good: The Motorola Elite Sliver has excellent audio quality, noise cancellation, and an ultracompact size. The battery charger case helps it stand out from the Bluetooth headset pack.
Bad: The Elite Sliver's ear placement is tricky for eyeglass wearers. NFC pairing is a no-go, and the tiny volume key is awkward to operate.
Bottom Line: While its fit could be snugger and NFC pairing is a pipe dream for now, Motorola Elite Sliver's advanced features and battery pack travel case will please all but the pickiest Bluetooth users. [Read more]

Lenovo IdeaPad U400 (Core i5)

Posted: 21 Dec 2011 06:23 AM PST

Editor's Rating:
User Rating:
Good: The Lenovo IdeaPad U400 has a sleek, attractive metal design and a good assortment of features for its price, including a slot-loading DVD drive and AMD graphics.
Bad: There's not much that stands out performance-wise over the competition; it lacks the exceptional battery life, higher-res screen, Blu-ray drive, and SSD upgrades that high-end competitors tend to have.
Bottom Line: Adopting the looks of an ultrabook and an Apple MacBook, the IdeaPad U400 wins on design and overall value, but it's not that far above other equally good laptops that are out there right now. [Read more]
