Good: The easy-to-use, high-capacity LaCie 2big Thunderbolt Series offers very fast performance for a dual-bay external hard drive. The drive supports RAID configurations, has a user-serviceable hard-drive bay design, and can be daisy-chained with up to five other Thunderbolt devices without decreasing the throughput.
Bad: The LaCie 2big Thunderbolt's performance is comparatively slow for a Thunderbolt storage device, especially in RAID 1. The drive is relatively expensive; it doesn't have built-in support for any other common peripheral connections like USB or FireWire; and it doesn't come with the necessary Thunderbolt cable.
Bottom Line: The LaCie 2big Thunderbolt Series strikes a balance between capacity, performance, and price and would be a good choice for owners of Thunderbolt-enabled computers. [Read more]

Good: The Samsung Rugby Smart's rugged but slim design can withstand a dunking and a slam against the wall. Its camera comes with many features, and images and videos look great on the Super AMOLED screen.
Bad: The Rugby Smart's battery doesn't last too long, and voice quality is a little muffled. The camera's autofocus feature isn't the fastest.
Bottom Line: The Samsung Rugby Smart can take plenty of punches, without skimping on the smartphone features. Unlike other rugged phones, it's easy on the eyes and it can run on 4G. [Read more]

Good: The iHome iDM11 is an attractively designed, affordably priced, compact Bluetooth speaker that sounds decent enough and plays reasonably loud. It also has a built-in rechargeable battery, speakerphone capabilities, and an audio input cable for non-Bluetooth devices.
Bad: It's a little short on bass and detail; a protective carrying case isn't included; and a proprietary combo cable is needed for wired audio playback.
Bottom Line: The iHome iDM11 doesn't sound quite as good as the Jawbone Jambox, but it's a better value at less than $70. [Read more]

Good: The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS20 has an excellent design and feature set, including an ultrawide-angle 20x zoom lens, GPS, and semimanual and manual shooting modes as well as fast shooting performance and improved low-light photo quality from previous versions.
Bad: Using all of the ZS20's high-performance features can really cut into battery life, including use of its near-pointless touch screen. Also, photos are noisy and soft when viewed at 100 percent.
Bottom Line: The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS20's 20x zoom lens might be the main attraction, but the camera is all-around excellent. [Read more]

Sony Tablet P

User Rating:
Good: The Sony Tablet P's screens look great and I appreciate its removable battery. Also, the ability to fold it in half and fit it into your pocket is indescribably convenient.
Bad: The two screens are segmented by a dead space, making certain apps function awkwardly, and its pointy corners don't necessarily make me want to hold it for extended periods. Also, both the contract and noncontract prices are too expensive given what you get; there are better and cheaper alternatives. The PlayStation Store game selection is extremely limited.
Bottom Line: The Sony Tablet P's clamshell design makes it indescribably convenient, but its expensive price and awkward implementation of its dual screens make for an undesirable tablet experience. [Read more]
