Posted: 20 Mar 2012 01:10 AM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: As a fitness tracker, the Nike FuelBand offers a simple, attractive design that stays out of the way during most physical activities. Its pedometer tracks steps taken, calories burned, and a proprietary measurement of activity called Nike Fuel. The accompanying iOS app and Nike+ Web site offer great motivational tricks too. Bad: The Nike Fuel score is worthless to anyone who doesn't have a Nike+ product, and isn't always accurate. There's no way to measure distance for specific runs, so it isn't useful for athletes or people who train regularly. At $149, it's also pricey for what it does. Bottom Line: Armed with a few tricks, the Nike FuelBand can be very effective as a motivator for casual exercise, but its limitations will leave serious athletes disappointed. [Read more] |
Posted: 10 Mar 2012 03:22 AM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Kyocera DuraPlus is made tough and its built-in LED flashlight is useful for low-light environments. The Sprint Direct Connect push-to-talk feature works well and call quality is solid. Bad: The DuraPlus has a look only a mother can love and it could stand to lose a few ounces. It doesn't have a camera, a microSD slot, or a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Bottom Line: If aesthetics isn't important, and you want a basic rugged phone that can make good calls and withstand being kicked around and dropped underwater, consider the DuraPlus. But be aware: its clunkiness will give your hand a workout. [Read more] |

It includes an RCA-to-3.5mm cable. Bad: It's "wireless," but needs to be plugged in to the audio component (and a wall outlet). Bottom Line: If you're looking for a relatively cheap way to add Bluetooth wireless audio streaming to a powered speaker or audio component with an audio input, the Logitech Wireless Speaker Adapter is a good solution. Posted: 17 Dec 2010 07:15 AM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: Sennheiser's HD 238is are comfortable and affordable on-ear headphones that sound very good for the money. They also have an inline remote and microphone for iPhone users. Bad: The headphones fold flat but lack a compact design like the Bose OE2i headphones. Bottom Line: Price at more than half the price of Bose's OE2i on-ear headphones, the comparable Sennheiser 238i headphones deliver a lot of bang for your buck. [Read more] |
