Good: A comfortable shooting design and nice photos in bright light number among the strengths of the Nikon Coolpix P7700.
Bad: The P7700's performance is sluggish, and despite being the largest camera in its class it no longer has an optical viewfinder.
Bottom Line: It's a solid enthusiast "compact" that will please a lot of shooters, but the Nikon Coolpix P7700 doesn't quite deliver at midrange ISO sensitivities and its image-processing overhead might annoy impatient photographers. [Read more]

Good: The Tivoli PAL BT retains the wonderful retro design, compact form factor, strong battery life, and excellent AM/FM radio of its predecessors, while adding Bluetooth compatibility. It offers surprisingly big sound for its size.
Bad: The Bluetooth performance (and overall sound quality) is decent but not good enough for a $300 speaker -- yes, it's overpriced.
Bottom Line: It's great that Tivoli added Bluetooth streaming to its great little PAL radio, but its $300 price tag is excessive. [Read more]

Good: The Huawei Verge has a user-friendly design and a bright display.
Bad: The Verge has variable call quality. The camera and Web browser aren't worth the trouble.
Bottom Line: The Huawei Verge gets points for simplicity, but there are better basic phones in MetroPCS' stable. [Read more]

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge Twist

Good: The ThinkPad Twist has great Lenovo construction, a responsive touch screen, and a center hinge for flipping into tablet mode, all for a very reasonable price.
Bad: The screen accelerometer can have a mind of its own, flipping into portrait view randomly. Battery life is merely OK, and the screen resolution is low for a modern laptop/tablet convertible.
Bottom Line: Slightly less conservative-feeling than the average ThinkPad, the well-made ThinkPad Twist offers one of the better tablet modes from the first wave of Windows 8 convertibles. [Read more]

Apple iMac

User Rating:
Good: A thin new design and a competitive, logical set of core component updates keep Apple's top-end iMac on elite ground.
Bad: The lack of HDMI input is frustrating, and Apple's continued reluctance to add a touch screen may bother some.
Bottom Line: Apple sticks to the fundamentals with the new iMac, relying on design, strong features, and overall polish to maintain its leadership among high-end all-in-ones. [Read more]

Apple iTunes

User Rating:
Good: The iTunes 11 interface is easier to navigate and is more intuitive than previous versions. The MiniPlayer has the right set of controls to keep the software out of your way while you do other things.
Bad: The app still takes up a lot of your computer's resources. The Windows version still lags behind the Mac.
Bottom Line: iTunes 11 is a much-needed refresh with a new interface and a useful MiniPlayer, but it's still a little overly complex for its own good. [Read more]
