Canon PowerShot SX160 IS (Black) Posted: 19 Dec 2012 12:14 AM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Canon PowerShot SX160 IS has a large selection of shooting options from full manual to full auto; big, easy-to-press controls; and the convenience of AA batteries. Bad: The SX160 IS will eat through alkaline batteries; shooting performance is good, but not fast; and picture quality drops off above ISO 400, so it's not a great choice for handheld low-light shots. Bottom Line: The Canon PowerShot SX160 IS is a good, inexpensive travel-zoom option for those wanting more control over results or who are just getting into photography and don't want to empty their wallets. Posted: 18 Dec 2012 11:47 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Nocs NS600 Crush are lightweight, comfortable, and offer very good sound with strong bass. They also have an Apple-friendly inline remote/microphone and ship with a nice carrying case. Bad: These headphones are somewhat expensive; the thin cord is prone to tangling (compared with headphones with a flat-cord design). Bottom Line: While they're a little pricey, the Nocs NS600 Crush are comfortably lightweight earbuds that sound very good and offer strong bass performance. [Read more] |
Posted: 18 Dec 2012 09:48 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The 2013 Ford Fusion is available with automatic parallel parking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control. Its 2-liter EcoBoost engine delivers 240 horsepower and decent fuel economy. Over 10 apps are integrated with the infotainment system, and the voice command system is the best in the industry. Bad: The touch screen needs to be more responsive, and the navigation system's maps load slowly. Bottom Line: Among midsize sedans, none is as technology-rich as the 2013 Ford Fusion, which mixes efficiency, driver assistance, and infotainment features in one attractive package. [Read more] |
Posted: 18 Dec 2012 07:28 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The relatively compact Skullcandy Navigator on-ear headphones have a slick retro-future design, offer a comfortable fit with decent sound for $99 headphones, and their detachable cord has an Apple friendly inline remote/microphone. Bad: Some headphones in this price range sound better; some of the inline remote features won't work with non-iOS devices. Bottom Line: While they don't quite measure up performance-wise to some competing models in this price range, the Skullcandy Navigators score points with their eye-catching design and comfortable fit. Posted: 18 Dec 2012 07:11 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: Rhapsody offers an intuitive interface, a large song library, and caching for offline play. Bad: Search function needs improvement. Social features available on desktop are missing from mobile app. Bottom Line: The Rhapsody app is fantastic for listening to your favorite tracks on demand, but it's missing a few key features that desktop users readily enjoy. Huawei Ascend Y (U.S. Cellular) Posted: 18 Dec 2012 05:39 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: Huawei's Ascend Y smartphone has an attractive design, a comfortable feel, and a very low price tag. Bad: Its Android 2.3 OS is outdated, the camera is poor, and 3G data speeds are very slow. Call quality is lacking. Bottom Line: The Huawei Ascend Y is an inexpensive foray into Android, but U.S. Cellular offers better phones at similar costs. [Read more] |
HP Spectre One 23 all-in-one desktop Posted: 18 Dec 2012 05:09 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: Stand-out features of the Spectre One 23 include a Core i7 CPU, an NFC receiver, and both a wireless mouse and a wireless touch pad. Bad: An absent touch screen and an underwhelming feature set make this PC hard to recommend. Bottom Line: HP tried to capture some high-end Windows 8 excitement for the Spectre One 23, but it falls short on both features and value. [Read more] |
