Posted: 13 Dec 2012 02:00 AM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The 2013 Mazda Mazdaspeed3's turbocharged engine supplies gratuitous amounts of power, while its suspension delivers a firm, sporty ride. Mazda's new Technology Package combines excellent TomTom navigation with a full range of digital audio sources that includes Pandora Link app integration. Bad: The infotainment system uses separate address books and voice command systems for phone and navigation systems. Some drivers will find torque steer to be a problem. Bottom Line: There may slightly faster hot hatchbacks on the market, but the 2013 Mazda Mazdaspeed3 is still an absolute hoot to drive. [Read more] |
Posted: 13 Dec 2012 12:25 AM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Acer Iconia W700 can work as a tablet or a small desktop, and it has a high-res screen and excellent battery life. Bad: The non-adjustable stand limits viewing angles, and you'll need an external mouse or touch pad for efficient Windows navigation. Bottom Line: One of the only Core i5 slate-style Windows 8 systems we've seen, the Acer Iconia W700 asks few compromises for full-time use, but the design isn't for everyone. [Read more] |
Posted: 12 Dec 2012 11:59 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: AT&T's Nokia Lumia 820 offers Windows Phone 8, 4G LTE, and a terrifically low subsidized price. Bad: This Lumia is heavy, a little slippery, and has a short battery life. Data speeds were variable. Bottom Line: If you're looking for an inexpensive, approachable smartphone with a few more features, the Nokia Lumia 820's $50 price tag is tough to beat. [Read more] |
Energizer Dual Inductive Charger Posted: 12 Dec 2012 11:20 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Energizer Dual Inductive Charger charges phones conveniently without wires. The charger is easy to set up and can power three devices at once. It accommodates compatible phones without needing an add-on case or sleeve. Bad: The Energizer Dual Inductive Charger is large, bulky, and not very portable. It only supports Qi-standard devices for wireless charging. Bottom Line: The $89 Energizer Dual Inductive Charger powers up compatible gadgets without the hassle of cords, but is a poor travel companion. [Read more] |
Posted: 12 Dec 2012 10:41 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: Rhapsody SongMatch identifies songs accurately and offers extra functionality for Rhapsody subscribers. Bad: Unlike some of its competitors, SongMatch doesn't offer valuable extras like social sharing, concert info, and YouTube videos. Bottom Line: SongMatch is an excellent download for existing Rhapsody subscribers. For others, SoundHound or Shazam would be better options. [Read more] |
Posted: 12 Dec 2012 10:00 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Promise Technology Pegasus J4 can house four 2.5-inch internal drives and offers fast performance. It's compact and easy to use. Bad: The J4 doesn't support RAID 5 or USB 3.0, nor does it include a Thunderbolt cable. You have to open the casing to service its internal drives. Bottom Line: The Pegasus J4 is currently the only good choice on the market if you're looking for a compact four-bay Thunderbolt storage device. [Read more] |
Posted: 12 Dec 2012 08:07 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: KitCam offers a ton of tools, film effects, and lenses for both photos and video in an interface that's easy to navigate. Bad: Strangely, while using the leveling tool, it was always a bit off in my testing. Bottom Line: If you're looking for a new camera app that gives you tools and filters for both photos and video, KitCam is the app to buy. [Read more] |

Bad: The M-100's substantial price tag may deter shoppers on a budget.
