With the introduction of tabbed browsing, the way we surf the internet has never been more full of distractions. Session Buddy and Session Manager aim to bring a little order to the chaos. Whether you're a couch surfer, college student, or office jockey, chances are you probably have what seem to be a thousand tabs opened right now. Managing all those opened windows were a hassle before, but now with each one having about 20+ tabs opened, too? One trick was to force shutdown Chrome. The crash-saving feature would save your session for the next opening, but this can be tedious to do every single time. You could keep your computer powered on and your browsing session will be there the next time you return. However, this will waste a lot of computer memory if you wanted to work on something else in the meantime. It's also not a very green solution if you are simply going AFK. Thankfully, there are easier ways with the help of Session Buddy or Session Manager.

Just 2 more windows... then that's it. Okay maybe 3.

Flayvr for iOS brings organization to your Camera Roll

Note to Apple: Nice job with the cameras and all, but Camera Roll? Not so great.

See, browsing photos on an iDevice kind of sucks. You're stuck either swiping through tiny, disorganized thumbnails or paging through endless full-screen snapshots to find what you're after.

Flavyr for iOS turns your Camera Roll into nicely organized albums, offering a much cooler way to view and share your snapshots.

When you run the app, it automatically groups your photos by date and presents them in a scrolling list. Each dated group (or "flayvr") consists of a title and four tiny thumbnails, one of which flips to a different picture every few seconds.

When you tap a group, it expands to fill the screen, again with four (larger) animated thumbnails. Here you can tap to edit the title or location of the flavyr, or tap a photo to enlarge it (though not quite to full-screen size unless you double-tap), then swipe through the other photos in the group.

There's also a Share button that lets you direct your flavyr to Facebook, Twitter, Google+, SMS, or e-mail. Anyone who clicks or taps the resulting link lands at the Flavy... [Read more]

Infinite Jukebox: Your favorite song ... forever

Posted: 16 Nov 2012 10:05 AM PST

It all started with Infinite Gangnam Style. For Music Hack Day Reykjavik, Paul Lamere, Director of Development Platform for the "music intelligence" company The Echo Nest, took Psy's "Gangnam Style" sensation to the next technological level. By breaking down the song into parts and matching similar parts in various patterns, he created a dynamic remix of the song that never ends. For Music Hack Day Boston last weekend, he modified and updated the musical algorithm to work with (nearly) any song, resulting in the webware app Infinite Jukebox, with the tagline "For when your favorite song just isn't long enough."

Although servers are getting slammed this week (putting the site into "Call Me Maybe" mode), the app works by letting users upload any MP3 file they want, then providing a permanent URL for the infinite remix, with a super cool visualization of the song's "beats" and "paths."

Each block in this visualization of R. Kelly's "Ignition (Remix)" represents one beat.

How to share reminders in OS X

Posted: 13 Nov 2012 02:31 PM PST

In OS X Mountain Lion, Apple included a few of its iOS applications, one of which is the Reminders app for setting up and organizing to-do lists. Reminders used to be part of Apple's iCal feature, but has migrated to a separate app that interfaces with the Calendar for all your Apple devices and with Apple's iCloud service. This unified setup not only makes sharing reminders among devices easy, but also offers a platform for sharing reminders among different iCloud users.

While a little redundant with standard calendar events, reminders are convenient alternatives since they are maintained in relevant lists and do not allocate a section of time for the event to take place. In addition, unlike events, reminders offer a notice in which the reminder will turn red when its due date has expired.

Hover your mouse to the left of the list name and click the share button that appears, followed by adding various contacts to share the list with.

Not only are reminders convenient for an individual, but they can also be shared among different people, which can be beneficial for organizing collaborative projects. Unfortunately you cannot share individual reminders with people, but you can set up a shared list that will automatically sync among people's iCloud accounts.

Sharing a reminder list The process for sharing a reminder list is relativel... [Read more]
