Good: Air Patriots adds a unique twist to the popular tower defense genre, and the variety of its unlockable units makes the game addictive.
Bad: With only four different enemy types, gameplay can get repetitive.
Bottom Line: Air Patriots is a unique tower defense-style game that strikes just the right balance between challenging and fun. [Read more]

Good: The House of Marley Smile Jamaica headphones feature amazing build quality for a very small price. The bass response is full without becoming "one note" or bloated. The features are well-thought-out with a one-button mic remote, which works for iOS and Android and a fabric wrapped cord.
Bad: The bass can unduly dominate rock music or pop music. Other headphones have greater sparkle or detail. The cable can be microphonic.
Bottom Line: Like many celebrity-endorsed headphones, the House of Marley Smile Jamaica has a bass-heavy response, but an excellent price and build elevate it above its peers. [Read more]

Toshiba Satellite U845W (Windows 8)

User Rating:
Good: The wide-screen Toshiba Satellite U845W-S430 has an extra-long, higher-resolution screen, Harman Kardon speakers that pack a punch, and an attractive, compact design with plenty of ports.
Bad: The keyboard and touch pad are uncomfortable, the wide screen isn't a perfect marriage with Windows 8, and the screen doesn't always play nicely with all streaming video content.
Bottom Line: Toshiba's experimental extra-wide-screen ultrabook gets a Windows 8 software upgrade, but it turns the Toshiba Satellite U845W into a computer imperfectly matched for what Windows 8 has to offer. [Read more]

User Rating:
Good: The Toshiba 40E220U features crisp images with a decent amount of contrast. The TV offers a good value and is one of the better units under $500. Colors are well-saturated.
Bad: The TV shows uniformity problems and some of the colors are inaccurate. Shadow detail is lacking compared with the cheaper TCL P60.
Bottom Line: The Toshiba 40E220U is a value-for-money television offering decent contrast and bright, vivid colors. [Read more]

Acer Aspire 7600U

Posted: 07 Nov 2012 11:14 PM PST

Editor's Rating:
User Rating:
Good: Acer's new attention to look-and-feel shows in the Aspire 7600's clean appearance and responsive touch input.
Bad: The Aspire misses on price vs. performance, and Dell's 2,560x1,440-pixel resolution XPS One 27 makes 1,920x1,080-pixel screens like this one feel pedestrian.
Bottom Line: Subpar computing components and a dominant high-end all-in-one from Dell hurt Acer's high-end, visually compelling Aspire 7600U. [Read more]

2013 Nissan Altima SL

Posted: 07 Nov 2012 10:50 PM PST

User Rating:
Good: The 2013 Nissan Altima exhibits excellent ride quality, and its continuously variable transmission contributes greatly to fuel efficiency. The available navigation system includes Google search for business addresses.
Bad: The new Altima does not take advantage of newer, more efficient engine technologies. The base-level voice command only controls the phone system.
Bottom Line: Larger than you would expect for a midsize sedan, the 2013 Nissan Altima offers distinctive ride quality and some surprising available cabin tech, but engine choices slip behind the tech curve. [Read more]

MEElectronics Sport Fi S6 (Black/Red)

User Rating:
Good: The MEElectronics Sport Fi S6 delivers good sound for the money if you can get a tight seal. The earphones come with a nice set of accessories, including an extension cord and a nice carrying case.
Bad: Some people may have a hard time getting a comfortable fit and tight seal fit, which hurts sound quality. No built-in microphone/remote for making calls.
Bottom Line: While the MEElectronics Sport Fi S6 is an affordable, decent-sounding sports earphone set with a nice set of accessories, it won't fit everyone equally well. [Read more]

Fotodanz (Android)

Editor's Rating:
User Rating:
Good: Fotodanz is an incredibly simple app for making cinemagraphs (partially animated GIFs).
Bad: There are no options to remove watermark, or customize video length, speed, or other loop settings.
Bottom Line: While it may not offer quite the customization options of the popular iOS app Cinemagram, Fotodanz's simplicity is certainly its biggest strength. That said, it is a fantastic app for creating cinemagraphs. [Read more]
