Good: The Panasonic TC-L65WT600 4K/Ultra High Definition LED LCD TV is the only one that can currently accept a 4K input at 60 frames per second. Delivers good picture quality with relatively deep black levels and accurate color; superb bright-room image; best-in-class off-angle fidelity; 4K resolution provides some benefit with 4K PC games; sleek metallic silver design with unique stand; scads of features including a second touch-pad remote, two pairs of 3D glasses, voice interaction, a built-in camera, and a solid Smart TV platform.
Bad: Exceedingly expensive and a poor value compared with 1080p TVs; improvements afforded by 4K resolution are minimal to nonexistent; imprecise local dimming causes some blooming and washout; 4K input not technically HDMI 2.0-certified.
Bottom Line: An input that's more future-proof than its competitors' fails to make the Panasonic TC-P65WT600 a recommendable 4K TV. [Read more]

Good: The Phorus PR1 offers a lot of potential with both Bluetooth and wireless audio streaming using your existing Wi-Fi network. The unit is less than half the price of itsnearest competitor. The system offers plenty of potential for the future with hi-res support and more services in the offing. The Phorus app supports Play-Fi devices regardless of manufacturer.
Bad: The system is a wireless bandwidth hog. Sound quality can suffer if there is congestion on your network with the sound closing in upon itself. Playback of any file format other than MP3 is spotty or doesn't work at all. The system suffers from frequent connectivity issues, even when wired. Initial streaming service support is limited to Pandora, unless you use Bluetooth. There's no Ethernet without purchasing a separate adapter.
Bottom Line: While the Play-Fi standard offers plenty of potential, the Phorus PR1 is currently too limited in its scope and performance to warrant buying over a Sonos. [Read more]

PLAiR 2

Good: The Plair 2 is a Chromecast-like streaming stick that offers access to the full Google Play app marketplace. The sleek-looking hardware's onscreen interface can be controlled by both iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. And original Plair owners can update their device for the price of shipping.
Bad: The experience is very buggy and unreliable. Many of the apps didn't work well and even when they did there were glitches that detracted from the content. Setup can be hit or miss. And the Roku LT and Google Chromecast are much better for around the same price.
Bottom Line: Plair 2 is an interesting Chromecast alternative that offers access to the full suite of Android apps, but it's just not reliable enough to recommend. [Read more]
