Good: The Samsung Ativ Odyssey is compact and affordable, and offers the clean Windows Phone 8 UI as well as 4G LTE.
Bad: The Samsung Ativ Odyssey's small screen, blah design, and 5MP camera won't knock your socks off.
Bottom Line: The Samsung Ativ Odyssey provides an affordable but not thrilling Windows Phone 8 experience. [Read more]

Kobo Mini

Good: The Kobo Mini is a modestly priced, very compact Wi-Fi-enabled e-ink e-reader with a 5-inch touch screen. It supports EPUB files, it's compatible with any e-book store that uses the Adobe DRM format, and with Wi-Fi off it gets up to a month's worth of battery life from a single charge.
Bad: Ideally, the device would be even smaller and thinner. Also, Kobo's selection of e-books lags behind Amazon's and Barnes & Noble's. Loading library loaners and third-party e-book purchases requires tethering to a PC.
Bottom Line: The affordable Kobo Mini is a likable touch-screen e-ink e-reader that's too small for some and not quite small enough for others. [Read more]

Good: The Dell XPS 10 includes expandable storage and a depressible Windows button, and its $180 keyboard features plenty of useful ports as well as an extra battery.
Bad: There are a few annoying performance bugs. The base tablet doesn't have as many ports as the Surface RT. It lacks a kickstand and its keyboard isn't as comfortable to type on.
Bottom Line: The Dell XPS 10 is a valiant effort at a Windows RT tablet but doesn't pack enough value into its base package to favorably compete with the Surface RT. [Read more]

Philips Shoqbox SB7200

User Rating:
Good: A rubber exoskeleton wraps the Philips Shoqbox SB7200 Bluetooth speaker in a protective layer of hard mesh, while dual magnets inside push out full-bodied tones that reach a level above competing portable speakers.
Bad: The gimmicky Smart Sensor adds an overly complicated layer to the speaker's simple design, and the single action button is prone to accidental presses.
Bottom Line: Despite unavoidable sonic limitations imparted by Bluetooth compression, the Philips Shoqbox SB7200 is built to survive the great outdoors and manages to sound better than most competing Bluetooth speakers at the same time. [Read more]
