Posted: 07 Dec 2013 12:33 AM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: Excellent photo quality, a great feature set, and speedy performance put the Nikon D5300 ahead of the pack. Bad: The default settings could be better and Live View is still really slow to use. Bottom Line: The Nikon D5300 is a great choice as a general-purpose dSLR. [Read more] |
Posted: 06 Dec 2013 11:56 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Audioengine A2+ is compact set of attractively style powered stereo speakers that delivers impressive sound for its size. This new "plus" version adds a digital USB connection, an output for an optional subwoofer to the existing two audio inputs, and a redesigned smaller power connector. Bad: The speakers lack a remote control, the volume control is inconveniently located on the backside, and there's no way to toggle between inputs. The Audioengines are also a bit pricey compared with less refined PC speakers. Bottom Line: While they'll cost you $50 more, Audioengine A2+ multimedia speakers improve on an already great product (the A2) with slightly better sound when hooked up to your computer via a new USB connection. Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover for iPad Air (Black) Posted: 06 Dec 2013 10:42 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover for iPad Air has an excellent, uncompromising keyboard, solid build quality, and it packs flat. Bad: Lacks advanced case features like automatic Bluetooth pairing or multiple viewing angles; doesn't protect back of your iPad. Bottom Line: The Ultrathin Keyboard Cover for iPad Air isn't quite as ultrathin feeling as before, but it remains an excellent -- if feature-minimal -- Bluetooth keyboard accessory. [Read more] |
Posted: 06 Dec 2013 08:24 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Egg Minder is a sleek-looking kitchen gadget that, while it doesn't offer a lot of functional utility, has a lot of potential. Bad: The app is glitchy and often inaccurate. In addition, the expiration date is determined by the user, which leaves a lot of room for error. Bottom Line: A smart egg inventory management system isn't the worst idea, but Quirky's Egg Minder's approach lacks the sophistication to make this a worthwhile purchase. [Read more] |
Posted: 06 Dec 2013 05:00 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The LG G Flex's contoured display renders media watching more immersive, it features a scratch-resistant coating, and its sizable battery provides an adequate amount of juice. Bad: The G Flex's massive size can be unwieldy, its camera quality is mediocre, and its 720p display can't outpace its competitors. Bottom Line: Despite a novel construction and scuff-proof exterior, the LG G Flex's doesn't flex enough muscle against the Samsung Galaxy Round or the Note 3. [Read more] |
Posted: 06 Dec 2013 02:18 AM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Asus Transformer Pad TF701T has great gaming performance, useful app extras, a sharp screen, and a microSD storage expansion option. Bad: The tablet is unnecessarily large and seems like an outdated design. The screen's color gamut is limited and cameras produce grainy, unbalanced images. The keyboard dock feels cramped to type on. Bottom Line: Despite its bulky design, the Asus Transformer Pad TF701T is one of the best 10-inch Android tablet values available, but it's worth your time to also look closely at its competition.
