Good: Infiniti's dashboard tech hasn't changed much for the 2014 Infiniti QX70 3.7 AWD, but it's still impressive, with a wide range of active and passive driver aid systems.
Bad: Blind-spot monitoring seems to have disappeared from the options list. The automatic gearbox sucks all of the fun out of the V-6 engine's power delivery.
Bottom Line: The 2014 Infiniti QX70 3.7 AWD gets a new name, but it's the same FX that it's always been. Fortunately, that's a good thing. [Read more]

LG BP530

Good: The LG BP530 offers a fine selection of streaming services, built-in Wi-Fi, and decent disc playback. It also features subtle styling, a well-laid out remote and is easy-to-use, despite some user interface clutter.
Bad: Netflix loads particularly slowly. The neat Private Listening feature only works with discs, not apps, and isn't reliable. And there are minor image quality issues for picky viewers.
Bottom Line: The LG BP530 has built-in Wi-Fi and a good selection of apps, but there are just enough quirks to keep it from being a top Blu-ray player pick. [Read more]

User Rating:
Good: For such a multifunctional system, SimpliSafe is incredibly easy to set up and use. Their contract-free packages are highly customizable and thoughtfully designed for better, smarter home security.
Bad: SimpliSafe packages don't include video cameras, and you won't be able to connect with locks, lights, or other home automation devices over Z-Wave, Zigbee, or any other wireless network. The devices also look a little dated.
Bottom Line: Home security options are evolving rapidly, but SimpliSafe is one of our current favorites. If you want a comprehensive, easy-to-use system that features live monitoring, you'll have a hard time finding a better option at a better price. [Read more]

Good: Excellent photo quality, a great feature set, and speedy performance put the Nikon D5300 ahead of the pack.

WD Black 2 Dual Drive

User Rating:
Good: The WD Black 2 Dual Drive offers fast SSD-based performance while providing 1.2TB of total storage space. The drive can be used with both laptops and desktops and includes a generous five-year warranty, useful software, and a handy USB-to-SATA connector.
Bad: There's no support for RAID, and you can't blend the two included drives into one single partition; compared with high-end SSDs, the performance is a little disappointing. At the time of the review, the drive only works with Windows.
Bottom Line: Fast, user-friendly, and affordable, the WD Black 2 Dual Drive is an easy recommendation as a replacement drive for any standard laptop or desktop computer. [Read more]

Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover for iPad Air (White)

User Rating:
Good: The Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover for iPad Air has an excellent, uncompromising keyboard and solid build quality, and it packs flat.
Bad: Lacks advanced case features like automatic Bluetooth pairing or multiple viewing angles; doesn't protect back of your iPad.
Bottom Line: The Ultrathin Keyboard Cover for iPad Air isn't quite as ultrathin-feeling as the original iPad cover, but it's still an excellent -- if feature-minimal -- Bluetooth keyboard accessory. [Read more]

Dell Inspiron 14 7000 Series DNCWA556H

Posted: 06 Dec 2013 08:26 PM PST

Editor's Rating:
User Rating:
Good: The Dell Inspiron 14 7000 Series offers mainstream laptop buyers a more stylish option than lower-end Inspirons. It's well-priced for its design and configuration, which includes an aluminum body that's barely more than half an inch thick, a 1080p touch screen, and a backlit keyboard.
Bad: Dell offers just two hardware configurations and no option with a hybrid or solid-state drive. Battery life is decent, but not quite the nearly 9 hours Dell quotes.
Bottom Line: Though its components and performance are somewhat average for its price, the Dell Inspiron 14 7000 Series' aluminum chassis, backlit keyboard, and 1080p touch screen give it a more premium feel. [Read more]
