Posted: 11 Dec 2013 12:52 AM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Kobo Arc 10 HD boasts a sharp screen with a high color gamut and performance is consistently smooth. Kobo's useful baked-in software makes reading, organizing, and shopping for books easy. Its faceted back feels comfortable and the inclusion of a Micro-HDMI port is a nice perk. Bad: It's heavy and the pointed corners uncomfortably dig into your palms when holding it. Internal storage is limited to 16GB and there is no memory card expansion slot. Bottom Line: If you can get past the clunky design, the Kobo Arc 10 HD offers a unique tablet experience for avid readers. [Read more] |

Posted: 11 Dec 2013 12:16 AM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Harman Kardon Soho-I are stylish, compact on-ear headphones that are relatively comfortable, fold up, and offer strong performance for their size. The headphone cord is detachable and replaceable and the headphones come with an Apple-friendly remote/microphone (Soho-I) or universal remote (Soho-A) for making cell phone calls. Bad: The hard clamshell case is ill-suited to the headphones' compact design and hard to use; the headphones let in a fair amount of external sound; could sound better for a $200 model. Bottom Line: The Harman Kardon Soho-I headphones are appealing if you're looking for a compact on-ear model, but they do have a few shortcomings. [Read more] |

Ball Freshtech Automatic Home Canning System Posted: 10 Dec 2013 11:43 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Ball Freshtech Automatic Home Canning System speeds up the food preservation process. It also employs safety technology that protects against unsavory bacterial contamination. Bad: The $299.99 price is pretty steep, especially compared with traditional "techless" water-bath canning techniques. For safety reasons, you can't use your own recipes or alter the ones Ball provides. Bottom Line: For many, I think the convenience of the Ball Freshtech Automatic Home Canning System will be worth the price. It's a fantastic starter kit and a great option for experienced canners who want to complete a batch in less time. [Read more] |
Posted: 10 Dec 2013 09:51 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: A diesel drivetrain gives the 2014 Audi A7 TDI impressive fuel economy for a large car. Connected features include Google local search and Google Earth integrated with navigation. Bang & Olufsen audio delivers detailed and balanced music reproduction. Bad: The A7 TDI requires additional maintenance in the form of 10,000 mile AdBlue fill-ups. Audi's proprietary audio port requires adapter cables for external devices; a standard USB port would be preferable. Bottom Line: The 2014 Audi A7 TDI includes some of the best connected tech available today in an automobile, and those inclined to put up with a few diesel drivetrain quirks will be rewarded with significantly higher fuel economy than from the gasoline equivalent. Bad: It's expensive, has a keyboard layout that compresses some keys, and doesn't offer a ton of side protection.
