Posted: 12 Oct 2012 12:52 AM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: Google+ for Android has a stunning visual interface. Features are almost on par with the full Web version. Bad: The file is around 30MB. There's no built-in button for sharing posts on Twitter and Facebook. Bottom Line: Whether you're a regular Google+ user or you're just interested in a few mobile features such as Instant Upload and Hangouts, Google+ for Android is a must-have. [Read more] |
Posted: 12 Oct 2012 12:37 AM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The 2013 Ford Flex SEL AWD offers plenty of space for passengers and bulky cargo, it accepts a wide range of audio sources, and you can add on a lot of driver aid and safety tech for not much more money. Bad: The MyFord Touch system, while improved dramatically, still feels slow to respond and slightly cluttered. Bottom Line: The boxy 2013 Ford Flex SEL AWD is not for everyone, but it's worth a look if you're in the market for a big vehicle with big space and plenty of available cabin tech. [Read more] |
Posted: 11 Oct 2012 11:43 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: Gridditor has an intuitive interface for picking and blending effects, letting you view previews for each effect. The app produces great-looking results. Bad: Beyond the interface, you don't get the extras like frames, labels, and textures found in other apps from this category. Bottom Line: Gridditor offers a great way to pick and blend effects with an easy-to-use interface, but it doesn't have all the features we've come to expect from other apps in this genre. Posted: 11 Oct 2012 11:00 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: By slapping a battery inside a 20-inch touch-screen all-in-one to make the Sony Vaio Tap 20, the company has given birth to a new PC category with great potential in tech-savvy homes. Bad: The touch screen has some frustrating drag, and Sony made a few missteps among some otherwise reasonable sacrifices for portability and price. Bottom Line: A compelling experiment in tablet-desktop hybridization, the Sony Vaio Tap 20 is a great fit for home tech enthusiasts willing to try something new. [Read more] |
Posted: 11 Oct 2012 11:00 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Sony Vaio Duo 11 has a fine set of specs for an ultrabook and an excellent full-HD touch screen on which to take advantage of the Windows 8-style interface. Bad: The Duo's design misses the mark for use as a tablet and a laptop, feeling like too much of a compromise. Bottom Line: While there are certainly things to like about the Sony Vaio Duo 11, the design gets in the way of enjoying them. [Read more] |
Apple iPod Touch (5th generation, 64GB, pink) Posted: 11 Oct 2012 10:13 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The 2012 fifth-generation iPod Touch has an excellent set of features: better front and back cameras, 1080p video recording, iOS 6, and a 4-inch Retina Display just like on the iPhone 5, in a design even thinner than the iPhone. Bad: The iPhone 5 still beats it on performance. The Touch lacks any phone functions, and there are tablet competitors that beat the $299 Touch on price and screen size. Bottom Line: The latest iPod Touch is the best iPod ever, and as close to a phoneless iPhone 5 as you can get -- but its high price makes it a tough call versus cheaper tablets with larger screens.
