Posted: 12 Apr 2012 06:00 AM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Samsung Galaxy Player 3.6 offers most of the capabilities of Samsung's popular Android smartphones, minus the phone and monthly fees. Bad: Screen quality is subpar and the camera is lackluster. Bottom Line: The Galaxy Player 3.6 costs $50 less than the Apple iPod Touch, but it's easy to see where Samsung cut corners. [Read more] |
LG Rumor Reflex (Boost Mobile) Posted: 09 Mar 2012 12:46 AM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The LG Rumor Reflex has good call quality, a responsive touch screen, a slide-out keyboard for swift texting, and a user-friendly interface. Bad: The Rumor Reflex's speaker quality is poor, the data connection was slow, and the camera interface is also poorly designed. Bottom Line: As a feature phone, the Rumor Reflex can do the basics well and its QWERTY keyboard and touch-screen display make it easy to use. [Read more] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2012 04:47 AM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The HTC One S manages to pack Android ICS, Sense 4, and a feature-filled camera into one of the slimmest phones on the market. Bad: The One S' svelteness comes at the cost of no SD card expansion slot or removable battery. Bottom Line: The HTC One S is the best phone you can get on T-Mobile (for now), wrapping Android 4.0, 4G data speeds, and a beautiful 4.3-inch AMOLED screen into one svelte package. [Read more] |
Posted: 17 Feb 2012 09:34 PM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The ThinkPad X130e has sturdy, impact-resistant construction that should survive more than a few drops and smacks. Most standard ports are represented on this compact 11-incher, too. Bad: An outdated look and sluggish performance can't match what faster laptops and ultrabooks offer; ThinkPad legacy features like the trackpoint feel odd on an educational laptop; and the price is too high for what you get. Bottom Line: The education-targeted Lenovo ThinkPad X130e is a mixed bag of an 11-inch laptop: not exactly inspiring or all that ergonomic, but built like a tank. It's simply not good enough in terms of design, price, or performance to merit serious consideration for most. [Read more] |
Posted: 11 Jan 2012 06:09 AM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Samsung PND8000 series exhibited outstanding overall picture quality, characterized by exceedingly deep black levels, accurate colors, superb video processing and very good 3D. Unlike LCDs, as a plasma it has superb off-angle and uniformity characteristics. Its massive feature set includes a touchpad remote, IR blaster, two pairs of 3D glasses, motion and voice command and the industry's most capable Smart TV platform. This Samsung is also one of the best plasma designs around. Bad: Samsung charges too much for extra features that are largely unnecessary and poorly implemented. Its picture delivers slightly worse shadow detail and bright-room performance than some competitive plasmas, and its maximum light output is somewhat dim. Bottom Line: The expensive Samsung PNE8000 series comes through with stellar picture quality, but its main appeal is to people who crave the latest gadgetry in their plasma TV. [Read more] |
