Good: The iPad Mini with Retina Display adds an excellent high-resolution display that rivals the iPad Air's, a far faster A7 processor, and tops it off with improved Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity, with battery life that's as good or better than in last year's Mini.
Bad: A starting price of $399 places it well above the small-tablet competition, and adding more storage or LTE makes it even more expensive. It lacks the innovative Touch ID fingerprint sensor that the iPhone 5S sports.
Bottom Line: The new iPad Mini somehow shrinks down the iPad Air into an even more compact package, sacrificing nearly nothing. It's more expensive than before, but it's also the perfect smaller tablet. [Read more]

Good: The Verykool Black Pearl is a great value at only $230 off-contract and it has a sharp screen.
Bad: The phone's camera takes mediocre shots and there's no support for LTE.
Bottom Line: Verykool's premium Black Pearl is far from high-end, but its unique features, like the dual-SIM setup, make it one of the better unlocked low-cost phones out there. [Read more]

Good: The 2014 Infiniti Q60 delivers solid handling and performance, while coddling passengers in a premium interior. The infotainment interface is easy to use, and the upgraded Bose audio system produces very good sound.
Bad: The 5-year-old infotainment system lacks connected features such as online search or Internet-based music. With the Sport package, ride comfort suffers.
Bottom Line: The 2014 Infiniti Q60 is a solid sport-luxury choice with some very enjoyable performance, but its dated cabin tech, while still useful, pushes no boundaries. [Read more]

Good: The Canon PowerShot SX510 HS is a very good value thanks to a new sensor, offering up excellent image quality and performance for its budget-friendly price. It also has built-in Wi-Fi for easier on-the-go sharing, among other things.
Bad: Despite the updated sensor, the SX510 HS' shooting performance might still be too slow for action shots, especially indoors. With no viewfinder, you have to use the LCD for framing all your shots.
Bottom Line: A change in sensor brings the 30x zoom Canon PowerShot SX510 HS' photo and movie quality as well as its shooting performance up a notch. [Read more]

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 2 Pro

Good: The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 2 is an excellent ultrabook, even without digging into its hybrid abilities. This new model adds a backlit keyboard and an impressive 3,200x1,800-pixel display, while keeping the price under $1,000.
Bad: Battery life lags behind that a couple of more expensive higher-res laptops, some of the hybrid modes are of dubious use, and Lenovo still doesn't know what to do with the keyboard in tablet mode.
Bottom Line: A major update to our favorite Windows 8 hybrid, the IdeaPad Yoga 2 Pro is still a better laptop than a tablet, but the new version adds a future-proof better-than-HD display at a great price. [Read more]

Good: The Jawbone Up24 is an incredibly easy-to-use and enjoyable fitness tracker that counts steps, sleep, and calories. The Up24 is water-resistant, light, and comfortable to wear. The device syncs with phones over Bluetooth.
Bad: The Jawbone Up24 lacks a screen to quickly check your progress on. The Up24 and Up 3.0 mobile app support iOS devices only.
Bottom Line: If having a screen or Android support isn't a priority, the Jawbone Up24's superb app, clever advice, and comfy fit are hard to resist. [Read more]

Sony PlayStation 4

Good: The PlayStation 4 serves up dazzling graphics, runs on a simplified and logical interface, and boasts a fantastic controller. It's also $100 cheaper than rival Xbox One and has the upper hand on indie and day one digital-only offerings.
Bad: Triple-A titles are lacking at launch, and the PS4 won't come close to matching its predecessor's gaming or software library for months -- or possibly years. PS3 games aren't compatible, though Sony is hinting that its Gaikai game-streaming service will open the door to retro gaming in 2014.
Bottom Line: The PlayStation 4's beautiful graphics, blazing interface, and near-perfect controller make it a worthy successor to the PS3, but it would be wise to wait for more titles and features before you buy. [Read more]

Good: Vine for Windows Phone makes it easy to shoot and share short videos, and check out what your friends are posting.
Bad: You can't save Vines to post later, nor can you edit your video clips before posting.
Bottom Line: Though it lacks some features found on the iOS and Android apps, Vine for Windows Phone will delight anyone who's been waiting for the real deal. [Read more]
