LaCie Little Big Disk SSD (240GB) Posted: 09 Nov 2011 03:52 AM PST Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The rugged, good-looking, and compact Thunderbolt-enabled LaCie Little Big Disk SSD offers by far the best performance for a single-volume external drive. The drive can be daisy-chained with up to five other Thunderbolt devices without decreasing the throughput. Bad: The LaCie Little Big Disk SSD doesn't have the built-in support for any other common peripheral connections like USB or FireWire; it works only with Thunderbolt-equipped Macs, is expensive, and a little noisy. The drive doesn't come with the necessary Thunderbolt cable, either, and offers a limited amount of storage. Bottom Line: For those who have a Thunderbolt-enabled computer and the necessary funds, the LaCie Little Big Disk SSD makes a decent investment for a compact and superfast storage solution. Nokia Lumia 800 - magenta (unlocked) Posted: 28 Oct 2011 01:31 AM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Nokia Lumia 800 has a singular design, a stunning display, and a nice driving console in Nokia Drive. Bad: Camera and video quality on the Lumia 800 is poor, despite the fancy specs. A front-facing camera would make the phone more competitive. The Micro-SIM slot is hard to access. Bottom Line: The unlocked Nokia Lumia 800 has an innovative design and gorgeous screen, but the poor camera quality and lack of a front-facing camera are major detractions. [Read more] |

Samsung Exhibit II 4G - marine blue (T-Mobile) Posted: 26 Oct 2011 09:29 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Samsung Exhibit II 4G has HSPA+ speeds, good call quality, and a lot more bells and whistles than you'd expect from an Android 2.3 Gingerbread phone at this price. Bad: A cheaper-looking design keeps the Exhibit II from being a lustworthy handset, and photos lack a little brightness. Bottom Line: A surprisingly full feature set makes the Samsung Exhibit II 4G ideal for Android bargain-hunters; just don't expect the best of the best. [Read more] |
Posted: 14 Oct 2011 02:29 AM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The T-Mobile SpringBoard has an initial low contract price, fast 4G speeds, SD card memory expansion, Mini-HDMI, good build quality, and many useful preinstalled apps. Bad: Committing to a two-year plan still gives us the heebie-jeebies. Also, its no-contract price is $100 more than that of the other current Honeycomb 7-incher. Bottom Line: The T-Mobile SpringBoard has the performance and features to rival most small tablets, but the price is a bit hard to swallow. [Read more] |
Posted: 21 Sep 2011 07:29 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic LTZ gets 40 mpg on the highway thanks to an efficient engine and a six-speed manual. Clever design in the cabin includes the instrument cluster and an upper glove box for electronics. Hill hold takes the stress out of stopping on an incline. Bad: Onboard navigation is not available. The Bluetooth system does not make the phone's contact list available through voice command. Bottom Line: The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic LTZ turbo is a competent driver with good fuel economy, but its cabin tech falls behind the compact-car competition. [Read more] |
