BlackBerry Torch 9810 (T-Mobile) Posted: 02 Nov 2011 11:31 PM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The RIM BlackBerry Torch 9810 has a sharp and vibrant touch screen, a decent physical keyboard, BlackBerry 7 OS, a 1.2GHz processor, and 720p HD video recording. Bad: The RIM BlackBerry Torch 9810's design is similar to a previous generation model, and it is far more expensive than the AT&T version of the same phone. Bottom Line: The RIM BlackBerry Torch 9810 should satisfy BlackBerry fans with its responsive touch screen and overall specs, but for $50 more, T-Mobile customers could get the much better Bold 9900 instead. Posted: 19 Oct 2011 09:04 AM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The Samsung Galaxy Nexus brings a ton of new and very welcome features with Ice Cream Sandwich. The design is sharp, the screen is gorgeous, and the internal performance is fantastic. Bad: Ice Cream Sandwich has eliminated some of Android's learning curve in some aspects, just to re-create it in others. There was some static on calls, and like other Samsung Galaxy devices, the Galaxy Nexus feels rather fragile. Bottom Line: The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is a big step forward for Android, but it's not the giant leap you may have been expecting. As impressive as it is, Ice Cream Sandwich can be messy, and without it, the Galaxy Nexus is just another Android device. [Read more] |
Posted: 17 Sep 2011 01:08 AM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: A great little camera with advanced features, the Canon PowerShot S100 builds on the strengths of its excellent predecessor. Bad: As a trade-off for extending the zoom range to 5x the lens' aperture narrows very quickly as you zoom out. And there's no improvement over the S95's so-so performance, despite the price increase. Bottom Line: The Canon PowerShot S100 is a generally great little camera for advanced shooters who don't mind slowing down a bit from a dSLR. [Read more] |
Posted: 18 Mar 2011 12:11 AM PDT Editor's Rating: User Rating: Good: The inexpensive Samsung LND550 series evinced good performance for an entry-level non-LED-TV, with deep black levels and ample shadow detail. Its screen was quite uniform, and the matte finish is a boon in bright rooms. Its styling is among the best in its class and its feature set includes media file support and excellent connectivity. Bad: Color accuracy on the LND550 series was worse than most of its entry-level competition. Unlike some 60Hz LCDs we've tested, it didn't handle 1080p/24 cadence properly. Bottom Line: The Samsung LND550's mix of features, style and picture quality stands tall among the tough entry-level LCD TV crowd. [Read more] |
