Good: The LaCie Christofle Sphere bus-powered external drive is unique and beautiful with a hand-crafted silver-plated steel chassis. It also offers fast USB 3.0 performance and helpful software.
Bad: The Sphere is expensive, attracts fingerprints easily, and doesn't work with all USB 2.0 ports. The included Genie Backup software is a stripped-down free version.
Bottom Line: The LaCie Christofle Sphere is definitely not a storage device that you need, but rather something you want for its great look and fast performance. [Read more]

Good: The better-than-HD touch display on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon looks great, the new row of adaptive function keys is clever, and the keyboard and touch pad remain best-in-class examples.
Bad: Even dropping the higher-resolution touch display doesn't bring the price down, and the otherwise excellent keyboard has a couple of head-scratching, and typo-inducing, changes to the standard layout.
Bottom Line: The third version of Lenovo's ultralight 14-inch laptop, the X1 Carbon, gets nearly all the basics right while adding a few new twists, including a function key row that changes app by app. [Read more]

Good: The three-in-one Ninja Cooking System brings the venerable slow cooker some new versatility, and without compromising its hallmark ease of use. It was a steady, reliable performer across all of our tests.
Bad: The Ninja was the least travel-friendly slow cooker that we tested. At $199, it's also the most expensive.
Bottom Line: If you're just looking for a simple "set and forget" countertop cooker, there's no reason to spend this much. Still, with unique functions like searing and steam baking, creative home chefs will love having the Ninja in their culinary arsenal. [Read more]
