Good: The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado High Country boasts a high level of standard tech between its MyLink system, OnStar telematics, and Bose audio. The combination of optional and standard driver aid alerts with the haptic Safety Alert Seat keeps the driver alerted without a lot of beeping. Both available V-8 engines feature direct injection, cylinder deactivation, and gobs of power.
Bad: We weren't able to meet the EPA's fuel economy estimates. No blind spot monitoring or rear cross-traffic alerts available.
Bottom Line: The 2014 Silverado High Country is a big, beefy truck that boasts a level of standard and optional tech and amneities that's nearly comparable with one of GM's luxury sedans. [Read more]

Good: PhotoMotion gives you an easy process for creating slideshows with the Ken Burns effect. You can set the zooms on your photos manually or have the app do it automatically.
Bad: The end result needs something more. Copyright rules in the app mean your music choices will be limited.
Bottom Line: If you just want an easy way to create a slideshow with neat zooming effects, PhotoMotion is a great choice, but music limitations and a lack of extras leave you wanting more. [Read more]

Good: The Samsung Smart Camera WB350F is like having a bunch of smartphone camera apps built into the interface of a point-and-shoot camera that has a 21x zoom lens and optical image stabilization. The camera's wireless features make it easy to shoot and share your photos to Android or iOS devices or straight to Web sites.
Bad: There's no improvement in photo or video quality or shooting performance from the previous version, which was just good. While its wireless options are still plentiful, its remote viewfinder function lags behind competitors'.
Bottom Line: The Samsung Smart Camera WB350F is a good package if you want to add an affordable long-zoom point-and-shoot to supplement your smartphone photography. [Read more]

Good: A hybrid drivetrain gives the 2014 Lexus GS 450h excellent fuel economy for its class, and its adaptive suspension delivers a comfortable, competent ride. Lexus Enform App Suite adds online destination search, Yelp, Pandora, and OpenTable.
Bad: The Remote Touch cabin tech interface is a bit fiddly when trying to select onscreen buttons. Maps for the navigation system lack a perspective view.

Toshiba Chromebook

Good: The 13-inch Toshiba Chromebook has a bigger screen and better keyboard than smaller 11-inch models, and battery life is excellent for a sub-$300 system. Ports include HDMI-out and dual USB 3.0.
Bad: This Chromebook suffers from the same limitations as other Chrome OS products, including the inability to run native software and very small onboard storage. Some other Chromebooks are branching out, with touch screens and higher resolutions.
Bottom Line: Toshiba enters the growing Chromebook market with the first 13-inch model. It's a great size for switching between travel and home/office use and feels comfortable to type on, but other Chromebooks offer more features for the same price. [Read more]
