Good: The Motorola Moto G is extremely affordable, unlocked, and runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The phone is compact and has premium build quality that belies its low price. The Moto G's speakers pack lots of volume.
Bad: The processor is slow, and the phone comes with a maximum of 16GB of storage and no LTE. The phone's screen is dim and lacks contrast and vivid colors. The Moto G's camera takes blurry photos without much detail.
Bottom Line: You can't beat the price of the Moto G, but the more expensive and more powerful Nexus 5 remains your shrewdest unlocked Android option. [Read more]

Good: Honeywell gets out from under the shadow of Nest by adding voice recognition to its new Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat with Voice Control. For the most part, it performs very well.
Bad: It costs $349. That's $100 more than the already pricey Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat (without voice control) and its main competition, the second-generation Nest Learning Thermostat.
Bottom Line: The voice control options are extremely basic, and the price increase just doesn't match the value added. Save some cash and get the $249 model or a Nest. [Read more]

Good: The 2014 Nissan 370Z Nismo's performance upgrades transform the sports coupe into a street-legal race car. The firm suspension offers great road feel and the wide, sticky tires give plenty of grip when cornering. SynchroRev Match makes every shift a perfectly timed one.
Bad: Almost no cabin tech is available at this trim level. The rear camera is a nearly $800 option. The firm ride can be punishing over rough roads and for longer trips.
Bottom Line: The 2014 Nissan 370Z Nismo is a fantastic pure sports car, but it makes a number of comfort and tech compromises in the name of speed. [Read more]
