Good: The Pantech Verse is a compact slide-up QWERTY messaging phone with a great design and quick, comfortable keys.
Bad: The Verse's keyboard will feel cramped to some. Battery life is limited, the headset jack is smaller than the standard, and the camera is mediocre.
Bottom Line: If texting is your game, you'll find a speedy keyboard in the Pantech Verse; however, the phone will disappoint those looking for faster data options. [Read more]

Good: The Cellink I Mobile Charger and Card Reader wraps up three features into a convenient package.
Bad: As a backup battery, the Cellink I loses its charge quickly. If your laptop has vertical USB ports, it can be awkward to use.
Bottom Line: It's not cheap and it's not perfect, but the Cellink I Mobile Charger and Card Reader is a useful and user-friendly tool for smartphones. [Read more]

Withings Wi-Fi Digital Body Scale (Black)

Good: With modern good looks, the Withings Body Scale tracks weight, BMI, and body fat percentage over time. Data is stored in the cloud and the scale supports many third-party fitness solutions.
Bad: Despite an inferior build quality, the Body Scale is more expensive than the Fitbit Aria. Its interface is not as intuitive, and Withings' online tools are basic.
Bottom Line: The $159 ultraflexible Withings Body Scale, once the pinnacle of home weight measurement, is losing its edge in the face of better competition. [Read more]

Good: The affordable Nuforce NE-770X's lightweight design and comfortable fit lend a rich sound to these earphones.
Bad: There's no integrated microphone for making cell phone calls, and the polycarbonate housing makes the earphones look cheap.
Bottom Line: The impressive-sounding Nuforce NE-770 earphones are a very solid value at $49. [Read more]

Sony HT-CT550W

Editor's Rating:
User Rating:
Good: The Sony HT-CT550W is packed with more connectivity than your average sound bar, with three HDMI inputs and three digital audio inputs. The sound bar itself feels surprisingly well-made, with a stylish, refined look.
Bad: Unlike other budget sound bars, the HT-CT550W requires a separate head unit, which vitiates some of the benefits of a minimalist sound bar system in the first place. And although it's priced at a premium, its sound quality is not as good as that of other budget competitors. Also, the included remote is very complicated for a relatively basic device.
Bottom Line: Consider the Sony HT-CT550W if you need a sound bar with a lot of connectivity, but it's otherwise not worth its premium price. [Read more]

Good: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX30V has excellent photo and video quality, fast shooting performance, and plenty of shooting options for every kind of user.
Bad: The HX30V is expensive, especially compared with competing models. It's not always the easiest camera to use and the feature set is so deep it might be too much for some users.
Bottom Line: The feature-rich Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX30V has a great mix of speed and photo quality. [Read more]

Sharp LC-70LE745U

Posted: 22 May 2012 04:42 PM PDT

User Rating:
Good: The Sharp LC-LE745U series delivers relatively accurate color and a matte screen that works well in bright rooms. The no-nonsense black metal design has a higher-end feel. Its feature set includes excellent help and support options, built-in Wi-Fi, and a remote with three programmable keys to easily access favorite apps.
Bad: This Sharp performed worse overall than its less-expensive linemate, with lighter black levels and less even lighting across the screen, both especially obvious in dark scenes under home theater lighting. Itc picture controls didn't work properly. The Sharp also failed to properly handle film-based (1080p/24) sources, causing slight stutter in certain scenes. 3D glasses cost $50 each and are not included.
Bottom Line: Although priced well for a large 3D TV, the Sharp LC-LE745U series can't muster the 2D picture quality to earn our recommendation as a good value. [Read more]

Editor's Rating:
User Rating:
Good: Engaging combat
Strong unit balance and variety
Powerful neutral units
AI is great when playing the defensive role

Bad: AI struggles on offense
Tech trees are online but not in the game or manual

Bottom Line: Warlock: Master of the Arcane's emphasis on combat makes it feel fresh in the 4X strategy genre. It just needed some fine-tuning to be truly great. [Read more]
