TechRepublic’s own TR Dojo video series is a great learning tool for IT professionals. But as I’m the host, I might be a little biased. In an effort to highlight other IT learning resources, I’m putting together a list of video lessons from around the Web. And, I’m starting with a list of five YouTube Education channels from colleges and universities.

When picking channels I looked for universities that focused on publishing complete course lectures. There are many more educational institution’s with YouTube channels, but the following are those with the most extensive offerings. The channels are listed in no particular order.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

An extension of the MIT OpenCourseWare initiative, MIT’s YouTube channel is filled with over 1,200 videos. Most are complete lectures from dozens of courses, such as MIT 6.00 Intro to Computer Science, MIT 6.002 Circuits and Electronics, and MIT 8.224 Exploring Black Holes.

UC Berkeley

On UC Berkeley’s YouTube channel, you’ll find videos from IT-related course, such as SIMS 141 - Search Engines and Computer Science 61A. Many leaders in the IT industry appear as guest lecturers in UC Berkeley’s course videos.

Stanford University

From undergraduate courses in Programming Methodology (CS106A) to continuing education classes on modern physics, Stanford University offers over 900 video on the school’s YouTube channel. As with most of the channels on our list, Stanford’s videos are divided into playlists, which makes it easy to find all the lectures for a single course.

NPTEL

With over 4,400 videos, the NPTEL YouTube channel has most available videos of the five institutions on our list. The NPTEL channel “provides technical lectures from all seven Indian Institutes of Technology and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.” You’ll find complete lectures on computer science courses such as Design & Analysis of Algorithms and Introduction To Problem Solving & Programming.

University of New South Wales

The UNSW YouTube channel doesn’t have as many course lectures on video as the other schools on the list, but it’s definitely worth checking out the ones it does have, such as COMP1917 Higher Computing and COMP1927 Data Structures and Algorithms.

Your favorite IT learning resource

This is by no means a complete list of the college and university channels or IT learning resources on YouTube.
