Good: The 2013 Scion FR-S handles beautifully, with extremely well-tuned suspension and steering gear. Digital audio sources include HD Radio, Bluetooth streaming, iPod, and USB drive.
Bad: Low torque leads to mild starts and not much thrust out of a turn. The available Bespoke head unit only integrates apps and navigation with the iPhone 4 or better.
Bottom Line: The 2013 Scion FR-S is a fun sports car, excellent in the turns but lacking big thrust, while the cabin tech upgrade looks intriguing for iPhone users. [Read more]

Good: The unique, ultra-wide-screen Vizio XVT3D580CM would make a great talking point in any living room, and with the right movie it can look great. The TV has a good mix of features, including passive 3D with four 3D glasses included.
Bad: This Vizio is very expensive. Normal wide-screen 16:9 TV and movies don't fit the screen well. The TV doesn't always "lock" onto a wide-screen signal, and black bars can pop in and out during the course of a movie. Picture quality is hampered by light black levels and the ultra-glossy screen.
Bottom Line: The Vizio CinemaWide TV is an intriguing idea, and quite a fun way to watch movies without black bars, but its performance isn't commensurate with the price. [Read more]

2012 Ford Focus Electric

Good: At 110 mpge for city driving, the 2012 Ford Focus Electric is far more efficient than a gasoline-powered car. Ford includes a full set of telematics through an app that lets owners remotely schedule charge times. Sync remains an excellent voice command system, and the Sony audio system sounds very crisp and clear.
Bad: The Focus Electric weighs 700 pounds more than its gasoline-engine equivalent, and its range is only 76 miles. The navigation system suffers from a variety of problems, such as slowness in finding the car's position on startup.
Bottom Line: Its short driving range and long recharge times limit the suitability of the 2012 Ford Focus Electric to some specific lifestyles, but it is a very high-tech car that should delight early adopter types. [Read more]
